CLS55 Power Loss
Hi. Im new here and just 1 week into AMG ownership. A 2005 CLS55 AMG. Today, I gave the car full throttle in 2nd gear from 2K revs to 6K revs. I did this 3 times in the space of 2 minutes. On the 4th attempt, the car suffered a huge loss of power. It revved cleanly, no misfire, but with no where near as much pull as before. No warning lights, engine temp perfectly fine. And, also, the cabin filled up with the smell of petrol. After a couple of minutes of normal driving at 2K revs, I tried again, 2nd gear, full throttle, and this time it pulled properly. This is not the first time this has happened, it did it last week also. Same circumstances. I run it on 99 RON fuel, its been on a STAR diagnostic kit, nothing showed up. Why does the car lose so much power after a few bursts of full throttle up to the redline?? Help!!!

Ive read other people who have had the same problem and the i/c change didnt work. Ive also read it could be a faulty external trmp sensor, so Ive ordered one of these and I will try this first before the more expensive i/c route.

Thanks mate. I appreciate everyones welcome. Being new to owning these old AMG cars, its great to be able to chat with experienced owners. Really great community on here. Owning this car will be a trial of love and expense. Im looking forward to seeing where it takes me.

Thanks mate. Yes good colour choice on your CLS63. It doesnt draw too much attention and then drops jaws when you open it up!
Is yours the 6.3 V8, or the 5.5 biturbo?

You're spot on with the description: it does drop jaws when you open it up. It does turn a lot of heads too I guess because you don't see them everyday, that and my shiny
