Hello everyone. First time AMG owner. 2009 CLS with 121K. Most services showed on Carfax. NC car. Needs front left strut, tire light on, and left rear window does not hold all the time. Any other maintenance items I should consider? Gear lever start/stop does not recognize key so will get a second key as well. An gaskets that are prone to failure? Also what is a good scanner that can possibly program as well such as windows up and down? Much appreciated in advance. Always loved coming here even without a Merc. Stay safe.

Replace all fluids:

coolant
engine oil and filter
Cabin filters
engine air filter
transmission oil and filter
axle(s) oil
brake fluid
steering fluid if non electric power steering

replace poly-v belt
check that sunroof drains are clear
check for water intrusion around trunk seal and rear taillamp gaskets
Replace cylinder head bolts if M156 6.2L V8

After all of those jobs are done you will have a good feel for what you have on your hands.

Oh wow. That is very detailed information. I tried to pull VIN sticker but was not able to get this much detail. Thank you so much again. Car is at a shop and mechanic mentioned head bolts. Very difficult to figure out if they have been replaced. He said he has to pull the valve covers off to confirm? Thank you so much again. Have there been any incidents of actually head bolts breaking? Thank you again for your support. I greatly appreciate it.

No i am in Atlanta. Purchase car from Foothills Auto Mart in Lenoir. Was a Fl and then a NC car. Has smoked front reflectors. Silver. Not sure if someone here? Sound and looks are heavily weighted in favor of purchase. Good to meet you. Have been a very heavy Audi buyer(20+), and somewhat an M buyer(5+) so far. First AMG so still assessing. Thanks

 

Welcome to the site. Your engine was built with the old style head bolts and your mechanic is correct it is best to remoce the valve cover to see if the heads of the bolts are the old style or the new. If new, you are in good shape. There are some other issues with the engine that most people update such as lifters. As you may know, the CLS is built on the E Class platform with nearly every mechanical component the same as the E Class. Hello. Kind of in a bind here. Ordered the following parts from RBM of Atlanta, 1) Both front struts, 2) both Headlight rubber housing, 3) Left rear window regulator, 4) 2 tire sensors. $2700. Have not picked up parts. RBM refuses to take parts back as they say this was all special order. Paid via CC via link via text. No returns or exchanges were mentioned by dealer whatsoever. What are my options. Cannot afford to lose $2700 just like that. Any thoughts are most welcome. Thanks in advance.

 

You just ordered these parts but now are concerned about returning them? Does the car not need these parts? It's not clear what the issue is.

 

Car does not need any of the said parts from RBM. It does need lot of others but that are procurred through the mechanic shop. Cannto exchange or return anything. Sorry

 

If these parts are not needed why were they ordered?
