2007 CLS550 Audio problem
After a body shop replaced the rear bumper, while driving back from the body shop, the radio started cutting off and then completely died. The logo comes on for a few seconds and the console unit turns off. The CD player activating sound comes every few seconds but otherwise the unit is dead.
I took it to the dealership and they had the following diagnostic report:
The dealership says that I'll need to replace the head unit.
However, I have the following questions:
1. MOST Ring Position 1 is the audio gateway and is there an audio gateway separate from the amplifier which is in the trunk? If there is a separate audio gateway, what is the part number?
2. If I replace the head unit with a used one from ebay, will it require some codes to make it work?
3. How do I take the CDs and Nav DVD out of the old unit? Will I have to break it to get those out?
4. What could the body shop have done while installing the rear bumper and tail light that could have caused this?

Confirm client concern of radio is not functioning. Connect battery maintainer & SDS perform quick test. Retrieved the following
Audio gate way fault codes - D137 Communication on the MOST bus was interrupted during diagnosis. D117 Specified/actual
configuration of MOST ring differs. D101 MOST component at position 1 reports open ring. Perform restart of MOST ring. Radio is
not responding to wake up request. R&I trunk lining & inspect all audio/navigation connections. No problems found. Remove fuse
#28 & perform restart of radio. Radio is still not responding to wake up request. Recommend replacement of radio & retest of
system.
