Also got to shoot a picture of the backside after the exhaust rubbers were changed. The backboxes sit a little bit higher, which looks way better. Job done!

Before shot first and after is the 2nd picture

Replaced the supercharger tensioner pulley with a new one. Felt a little bit of play in it and als noticed quite some grime and dirt in it, so was expecting that the bearing was also leaking. And my assumption was correct, the bearing was leaking.

I will replace the idler when I will also upgrade to billet pulleys, but that is something for the future.

All the dirt on the bearing indicates a leak

New one in place!

I have made it a bit of tradition to make a selfie whenever I buy new wheels. Even though I wasnt planning on buying wheels, I saw this set and thought they would look cool on the CLS. Unfortunately they did not look that great on the CLS, so I will be selling them again haha

Nevertheless, I made some pics off course. I could not fit the front wheels as they did not clear the calipers. I received the spacers this week, but was not impressed with the overall looks after fitting them.

Don't these cars use the blueish Pentosin CHF11S for power steering?

Good comment, the Febi Bilstein 06161 is the correct CHF11S fluid, which is what I used to refill the system

Looks pretty good, until I looked at the total picture

I love gadgets and I always wanted to try the small air cleaner from Osram. Retail prices started at about 50 euro, which I found too high. Prices have dropped and for about 15 euros, I took a little chance

A small supporting mod, insulating the airbox from reflective heat by using the gold tape.

Did you guys also see this video? Where an HKS style open cone is compared tot the stock airboxes

So what size spacers would work on the stock wheels (I have the same ones as you)?

On the rear I have 20mm 15mm H&R spacers if I am not mistaken (with longer bolts off course). On the front I dont have spacers. with the stock 19" AMG wheel and 255/35 tyres, that looks exactly right for me. In the rear I have 285/35

I will doublecheck for you later, I am not 100% sure if they are 10 or 20mm spacers

[edit]
They are 15mm H&R

And I was able to swap the engine mounts for fresh new Meyle mounts.

The location off course:

Removing the steering rack bracket gave me just enough room to shimmy out (and in!) the engine mount for the driver side.

The new Meyle mounts

And this is were I was confused. Did I pull out mounts which are not suitable for the CLS55? Are they collapsed a little bit? They seemed to be in pretty good shape, but the Meyle have the upper hand with regards to build quality. The Meyle mounts are also a bit higher as you can see.

I am happy with the end results, power delivery definitely feels better. I can describe it as "more stable power delivery".

The motor mounts collapse with age. Your pictures look very much like the motor mounts I've pulled out of my car.
I would strongly recommend you purchase a supercharger clutch scatter shield. If one of the supercharger clutch dog bone springs breaks it will buzz saw through the oil lines and the thermostat housing that are located just a fraction of an inch away from the clutch.

Perform an advanced search in the W211 AMG subforum for supercharger clutch scatter shield. Multiple posts on where to obtain plus photos of the carnage that results if a scatter shield is not in place. Install of the scatter shield is literally minutes.

Because my steering wheel was a bit damaged (normal wear) and I like a steering wheel which is a bit beefier and has a rougher surface (instead of smooth leather). Its a suede cover with black yarn and black inlay, because a red or yellow inlay (and yarn) would not fit the expensive look the CLS has.

It took me about 5 hours to complete this. The color difference is way milder in real life compared to the pictures.

Starting point

Work in progress

And the end result!

Mine is totally stock except the PO straight piped it, leaving the cats intact (I live in California, stupid *** rules everywhere).
This 63 is so much more refined than my 650i, but I will give the nod to the bmw for handling.
My 63 has a few issues (squeak on the right side up front, sounds like an old pickup truck when it is cold)
My "check oil during next fill up" light comes on occasionally but it is fine (I still check)
Pillars are shot on the outside (I saw what you did, will replicate)
One headlight is foggier than the other (just like yours) which will certainly drive me nuts, already tried a ceramic cleaning kit, did nothing
Air suspension sags in the rear when I don't drive it for a couple of days (but instantly raises to proper height upon startup), not sure if this is normal

More to follow
Happy to be a part of the forum
Hello. Your car sounds like the one i purchased. Ended up fixing close to everything that was needed. Right side headlight is still foggier and trying to find a reasonable solution. Also need steering wheel button stickers as new one is expensive. Love the sound though of the 63. That is with factory setup. Cold start is AMAZING.

Nice build thread. Saw your comment regarding the 82mm throttlebody in my thread. I cannot stress enough to skip this mod. My car was in the shop for over a year going through multiple throttle bodies and tunes to get it sorted not to mention the money spent chasing the issues. Ultimately ended up switching tunes which so far seems to have addressed the hiccup but a recent dyno showed that the new tune is down over 20+ HP which pretty much negated the whole point of the throttle body. Leaving it as is until cooler weather for a remote tune to see if some of the power can be gained back.

Appreciate your feedback man! So its either the 90mm or stay at stock. Do you happen to know the limitations of the stock TB? When does it become a restriction?

It really depends on your goals. If I did it all over, I would have stopped modding after the longtube headers. I'm still not convinced nor has anyone really provided solid data on how the 90mm TB resolves the hiccup issue. The car as it sits is plenty fast, now it is trying to make it as reliable as possible. With the longtubes I was making just as much wheel HP as I do with the new tune and 82mm TB.

This is exactly my goal, achieving reliable power. Ending somewhere between 500 and 600hp is enough for me (dont really care if its 510 or 590).

In the Netherlands we have a yearly MOT where they measure your exhaust gases for CO levels (if you have a pre-2006 car). I would love to have other headers, but my options are limited if I want to keep the stock primary & secondary cats.

Can you perhaps get mid tube headers and HJS high flow cats?

My car has a 80mm TB (no hiccup), K&N air filters, mid tube headers with only secondary oem cats, 88mm pulley and Kleemann cams and was dyno tuned resulting in 565hp measured on a MAHA MSR 500 dyno, which is quite accurate.
