returning to OEM
hello everyone, new to the germen car side of things and got myself into a beautiful 07 CLS550 this past weekend, and love the machine!
however the car was converted to coil overs due to the cost of replacing the OEM suspension, according to the owner he used an OBD upload from amazon to disable the alerts and warnings, i trust it because i have ZERO warns that pop up or noise from a pump trying to cycle or air being leaked from the lines.
i looked over the car and did verify everything is still located where it should be, just left unplugged - the buttons on the center console which i assume are for the airmatic system are both lit up and do nothing when depressed (maybe because the system has nothing to test, idk?).
The car drives ok but can feel almost everything on the road and dont want to deal with spending a weekend adjusting pre-load and height.
question here is who or what do i need to do to find out how to "re-enable" the airmatic system? is there a test that can be done? do i need a program, software? i haven't had luck finding this "OBD disable" plug anywhere or on these forums, and before i go throw some replacement shocks into it and find out the system isn't able to be brought back, id like to confirm with at least a error message on the dash board or something..

Welcome to the forum. I suggest you spend some time (maybe a lot of your time) over on the W211 part of the forum as the CLS550 is basically a W211 with different sheet metal. The entire drive line is the same as the W211. The most active section of the W211 forum is this group https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg-81/ and many of those members have moved to the non-airmatic system so reversing what they have done is likely your path to go back to using the airmatic. There were many, many more w211 built than the CLS, so there is a lot more experience with those members. Search is your friend here. At a minumum you will need to have the MB Star diagnostic system which will give you the best tool (it is a full bi-directional tool) to access all of the modules on the car and code them as needed to get the airmatic back up and running. I don't know for sure, but I suspect the Amazon tool was a simple targeted tool to disable the specific functionality of the airmatic system. Good luck.
perfect! ill make my way over to that side, i still am very unfamiliar with the chassis code and models I've seen referenced. hell it was hard to even find this side after typing in CLS550 lol. thank you for the diag tool as well going to be looking at putting one of those laptops in the tool box!
