Couple of Questions for you guys? just passed on my CLS500 & went for a CLS55 in MAR.

is the car going to be a 2005 or an 2006? The CLS55 Rims, are they the solid five stars, or the Five star split.? 0-60mph 4.5 or 4.7? 476hp 517lb right? and the tran. is seven speed right? thank you . and FYI i was going to jump on the list for the M5 or M6 but still on the boarder line of jumping into the CLS55. so if anyone wants i would love some more insight. i am 24 and live in NYC. thank you very much for your help

I'm not sure about most, but I'll try to give my input.

Solid five spokes.
0-60 will depend on the conditions.
Same with engine, colder = more because it's supercharged.
No, 5 speed. 7 Speed can't handle the torque.

-The CLS55 will be an '06.
-The rims are 18" split 5 spokes unless you specify the 19" solid 5 spokes.
-0-60 in 4.5 seconds.
-Stated 469HP (actually 493HP) and 516LB-FT of torque.
-7 Speed (7G-Tronic) on CLS500 only(and CLS350 in Europe). CLS55 gets the 5 speed with AMG Speedshift and steering wheel mounted upshift/downshift buttons.

Ah, thanks VelocitE55, the rims were really bugging me in the back of my head, I knew something was wrong.

Are the 19's a no charge option?

Unhappy 18" Rims Only!

Just verified it with my salesman at Fletcher Jones Mercedes and the CLS55 can only be ordered with the 18" wheels. If a dealer tells you otherwise, he is putting after market 19" wheels on your car. - Bob

thanks guys, i think i might put the 19 inch brabus wheels just so it is different, althought any of you guys ever own an M5, the majority of car that i have had were all Mercedes and i decided to pick up the E39 M5 after my cousin gave me a ride in his,i fell inlove with it. till this day she will hold a place in my heart, so i would say i am pretty fair at this point i give BMW and Mercedes there credit, what do you guys think, one thing that pushed me towards the CLS was that there was no Clutch, and that was one of the main reasons why i picked up the M5, (whats a sports car when you can't fully contrl itsevery move. but now that they are only offering the SMGIII i decided to Forget about the M and go with the CLS also about changing the wheels, i am big into aftermarket improvements with taste, but i alway figured that with a car that made for performance the rims and tires that come with it were your best bet, cause its not like mercedes just slaps any old wheel on the car, the rims and tires were tested for the best performance again thell me guys what you think?

O and do you guys know if the mirrors swing out auto. like the S and CL class?

also will they be changeing the engine within the first two years of the release of the CLS55, other than ADDING the CLS65? and with the addition of the CLS65 they wouldn't be discontinuing the 55 right?

Bob, you are mistaken. The 19" AMG rims are in Netstar now as a CLS55 option. Initially, they werent listed in Netstar as an option but they are now, as of a week or so ago. Give Mark Newton a call at House of Imports in Buena Park and he will confirm this for you. They have been added to my order in the Netstar system.

0-60....you really like comas dont you???? :p I am not sure about the power folding mirrors and the answers to the rest of your questions would be pure speculation at the present time.

Velocite55 is smack bang on the money. I ordered mine with the 19" wheels as of two weeks ago. I have a specific build date of the last 10 days in February. They told me that I could not change my specs after December 12 as it would be 'firmed up' in the system after that.

Velocite55, you mentioned that evem though the Mercedes says that the E55 has 469 hp, you state that is the same as the SL, S and CL class @ 493hp. Where did you get the source from, and if its so, why would Mercedes down play the E55 but not the other AMG's?

I never read it anywhere, its just common knowledge among AMG fanatics as well as being confirmed by every MB tuner I have spoken to. The reason MB AMG lowers the E55's/CLS55's stated hp output number is so that people who are spending $40K more on cars like the SL55, CL55 and S55 wont feel like they got ripped. They have to be able to justify the prices of those other models. Another thing to consider is the fact that the torque number is identical to that of the higher models. If the E55/CLS55 is less powerful, or if it has been detuned VS the other 55K models, then how does it maintain the same torque number? That and the performance are what tells the tale.

thats great(,) i might just order the 19's and forget about getting the
brabus VI. i was worried about the performance being different if i put the brabus wheels on. i had a 98 e430spot and put some nice 3pc. fab design wheels on it. the car never handled better when i put the stock 17's back on

too many to list
hey 0-60 i personally think that your CLS is good as its coming i mean the 19" you have a lot more chance of bending them so 18" look amazing and are very safe...its an amazing ride that your getting enjoy
