CLS dates of release.....

H i all,
I received an email from my dealer saying the CLS500 would be....screw it, cut and pasted:

Hi Todd,

We just received a press release from corporate that states the CLS500 rollout is slated for January17th with the CLS55 to follow "a few weeks later" Your car is due to hit port around the 8th and I'm sure will sit until they release them nationally. I will keep you up to date as we get closer.

So it sounds like mid-february for them to release the cars. Take it for what it's worth.

I think you mean all the others being the AMG55's in February, not January. I think it is very possible that the CLS350-500's are in port already just waiting to be released.

just got off the phone with my dealer, the cls500 base price 65k+ and in the dealership the 17th of this month, i am holding my order for the cls55 until i see the car for myself. my main reason for the hold is the fact that there seems to be different opinions as to how big the rear seat space is. i want it to be bigger then the E class. so my dealer said that if i put the options and color choice in on the 17th my dilivery date would be end of march beg. of april. which i am fine with due to the cold wintery weather up here in New York. at least i know the car wont be seeing snow so soon

I've seen a few CLS's rolling on the street and it looks damn sexy!

I suggest whoever buys one drops the car by a few inches, the ones I've seen so far look raised up too high by a few inches!

Why would you expect the rear seat room to be bigger?
Even if you simply look at the "purpose" for this car--the reason it was designed--all indications are that the rear compartment will be smaller.

By measurements, it is a bit smaller, but such a tiny bit that it could be attributed to thicker leather.

If you sit in the back, and ignore the high beltline and low roof and what sort of objective feeling it may impart, the seatroom is pretty much identical to a W211.

The cabin room includes areas where you don't sit, such as between the front seats. It also includes the area above the dash. Not very useful. We were just talking about the back seats. Agreed that the back seats don't have more room, but you pointed out that it was less, and it really isn't. It's the same.

i know what u mean and i agree with you. i was just trying to say that its definitely not bigger, so the size of the rear seats wouldnt be a factor hear.

i was thinking a CL and compared to the CL the CLS is bigger and more of a refreshed look then the CL. and the CL is gone soon anyway.

I don't know about the specs, but do you think the CL is bigger in back than the CLS? It feels like it, sitting inside...

u sat in the CLS? the specs say that it has about 4.5" more leg room then the CL, but i dont know about what it feels like b/c ive never been in the CLS. MB says its a coupe from the outside and a sedan on the inside, so iam guessing that its bigger and feels bigger then the CL.

Yeah, all the dealerships in Europe have had them a while... back in March, I saw the new SLK a few days before it was officially announced, and the new M-class. But I wasn't able to sit in those.

I guess coloration can have a lot to do with it. I think my E-class feels small inside because it is all dark: charcoal leather, black wood, etc. But then again, an all-black S-class doesn't have that feeling.
