New Color -- Barolo Red
A friend of mine emailed me a photographed copy of the CLS brochure that will be distributed through Mercedes dealerships in the United States.
There is a new color -- Barolo Red, #544.
Does anyone know how that color compares to the Bordeaux Red, #567, which is being discontinued for the CLS?

Both Reds Still Available.
jmeyers - The Brochure, I have in front of me, shows both #567 Bordeaux Red and the new #544 Barolo Red available on the CLS 55 AMG. Dammed if I can see the difference between the two by looking at the color chips in the Brichure. Oh Well.

A vintage color - Barolorot
I did a google search and learned that Barolo Red is an old Mercedes color that used to be available on the 190 E Class, at least in England. I found a used one for sale with a photo. It looked like a very dark wine red, almost purple. The name obviously comes from the red Barolo wine from Greece. If I recall correctly the code used to be 540. I assume it still has the same code number.

The small print
Just got ahold of the new CLS brochure. In the small print it says that the Borolo Red will replace the Bordeaux sometime during 2006. The two paint samples are all but identical as noted above. Probably like Brilliant Silver is to Iridium Silver. My guess is that the Borolo is a shade darker of a red than the color it will replace, but the difference probably will only be noticeable under certain lighting conditions, and even then you would need both cars to be side-by-side to see the difference.
