I had reservations about trading in my 2004 E55 (black/black) but now I am very happy I made the decision. Someone asked.... live in north Houston (Spring).

Bye Ya'll!

I have been thinking about doing the same thing.
You might need to be on the look out for another black CLS55 in the NE Houston area soon.

It would be awesome if well all ran across each other in our CLS55's at once Stiggs, the overall driveabilty is about the same. It does not blow the E55 out of the water, but I am still getting use to it and have not pushed it yet. I have learned from the past of my other amg's that it takes a while about 1000 miles or so for the engine to acclimate and loosen up fully. I really like the interior, it has a more fit and polished look compared to my E55. It appears to flow very well and they designers used forsight. The small windows are not a hinderance at all to me and does not obstruct view in my case. I think they make the car look sportier/agressive. VC, that is one of the reasons why I traded the E in, I wanted a body that was unique and this was the answer.

Take Care!

I think it's just a matter of taste... when I was living in Dallas adding horns to the front of your car was about equal to having chrome wheels here in OC... and suffice to say, chrome wheels are probably on 1/3'd of the nice sleds out here...

Getting my car delivered tomorrow...same color as your's and similar options...the one thing I had done to the car was to have the windows tinted and I can tell you, it's one of the hottest (and cheapest) things you can do for this car, especially in black...if people have ideas on hot wheels that would be great...can't wait to drive it.

I could not agree more. Got my black CLS55 tinted yesterday. Will post pictures tomorrow as it was raining today.

It makes a huge difference!

Whoever does your tint is in for a real treat. My guy tells me it is one of the worst rear windows ever in a Mercedes. The do the third light correctly you have to pull the rear deck and that is a MAJOR project in this car.

Enjoy!

I shall fear not and appreciate the support. I'd go at least 50% on the # of high-end cars there with chromes. In most places, not having chromes is either "normal" or "being discreet." In OC, not having them means "you're too cheap to pay for chromes!"

That is MTV cribs like. Wow Wow Wow!

I have a obsidian black 05 E55, and I initailly didn't like the CLS too much, but man is it growing on me. Who knows, since I bought my E55 If the itch needs scratchin".....................................

P.S. I have had no maintenence issues with the black. Get good microfiber and a good sealant and wax and piece of cake.

No chrome. The Brabus VI two piece really looks mean on that.

Dieselydoes it, I paid about $98,000 for mine and it is well equipped. This included the gas guzzler, etc. Really? the tint made that much of a difference. I like the look of the blue tint, but open to suggestions...what % did you all do it at, please post pics so I can view. Hey swisstrader check out the HRE's or Maido's, that is what Im considering heavily on for wheels, but then I also like the ones that come with it. Eagleeye, I had a struggle deciding on selling my E55 too, but am truly glad I did now after taking ownership of the CLS. Seeing one in person is much different than in the pics... To the guys that own CLS55's already, is it just me or does the car look much bigger and longer in person than it really is??? I looke under MBUSA's website and looked at the specs and its very close to the E55.

I've decided after a long conversation with the dealer to keep the original AMG wheels...the wheels are pretty sharp to begin with and I've learned with trying to resell in a year or two, you can completely devalue your purchase with aftermarket wheels.

It could devalue the tradein with aftermarket wheels? Wow I never heard or knew that, or maybe he means that they just dont give you the value of your aftermarket wheels. I just love the look of chrome on a nice black car, but seems most people think it is too flashy?

The factory wheels (std. or AMG) in chrome are fine for trade-in in the California/Arizona/Nevada/Florida markets, but questionable in most others (especially where roads are salted in winter). I wouldn't trade a car in with non-factory wheels. The best thing to do with aftermarket wheels is to keep the OEM originals in storage, put them back on when you trade in the car, then recoup part of your cost by selling the used aftermarket set on eBay. I've done this several times and it works beautifully.
