2003 C32 AMG
SVT, SRT, SS... so many new toys at the NY Auto show..
Have you seen all the new releases from the performance divisions of the big three? SUV with more HP than our C32 or C55's. Go check the Autoweek.com site. I particularly like the new Shelby Cobra GT500. That thing is sweet!
I'll give up my MB for that ford anyday. Who cares about "redneck" attitude associated with it. 450 to 500hp! Imagine that think with mods, and aftermarket exhaust? it will be outrageous. and the price? 40 to45k. the sticker on my C32 in 03 was 58k. definitely much more bang for the buck.

I don't think anyone buys an AMG model Mercedes for "bang for the buck". I'm looking at W211 E55s, but for the money that is spent on the car plus modifications, I could own a Corvette Z06 that would run high 9s and still have cash leftover.
When you buy something like a C55, E55, or S55 (just using sedan AMG examples) you're buying a car with power, handling, luxury, and prestige. As much of a muscle fan as I am, a Mustang will always be a Mustang.
Obviously were I looking to get the best "bang for the buck" I'd buy a 2003/4 Cobra. Or even, as you mentioned, the new Shelby GT500.

If you can't understand that AMG cars are a completely different uniserves that those US and japanese rockets then don't buy and AMG and let them to those who understand.
AMG motors and hand made with the "one man-one motor" policy. Cars are exclusively designed and endlessly tested on famous tracks like the nurburgring and Hockeheim. There is here an exclusivity that any of those US and JPN cars can't even dream of.
So you certainly think: "I don't care, the cobra does the 0-60 in 3 secs for 45K". But again it's two different universe.
In germany sport cars magazine compare sport cars with their track lap time not their 1/4 miles results.
Real sport cars are made for the track, not for the drag. You have to deal with it.
