Question re ctr cluster readout brightness

On my C55 I find that during daylight the readout in the center of the instrument cluster can be hard to read (mph, etc) because it's not bright enough. It's almost like it stays on a nighttime sensor setting. The dealer has already replaced the instrument cluster, but there's no improvment. Has anyone else noticed this? I suspect either a bad sensor or bad design regarding the amount of ambient daylight reaching the readout. There doesn't seem to be any manual adjustment to make it any brighter and nothing in the "settings" menu.

It could be difficult to see in bright light however really difficult or impossible if you have polarized sunglasses on and depending which way you tilt your head.
