I am not a big Porsche fan (seems like they are everywhere), so my recommendation is a little biased:

I would go for an M5 or a used 550 Maranello (prices are dropping fast because of release of 575). Have seen 550s on the market for under $100K. Lots in the $110-120K range. Style wise, there is not much that beats the 550. If you need a rear seat, go for the M5.

Well if you can really find a good 550 for under 100k then get that! I never saw one under 100k tho. I still love an F355, and you can get that under 100k easy.

---- the m5 is still a saloon whose base model is driven by old people. the engine technology really doesn't belong in a car such as the 5-series.

I agree all your points.
O5C55 definitely needs his next car to be a less bulky one. Most important , something long lasting and something special and still affordable.
If SL55 is too girlie to him, may be he should wait for the Cayman.
Very true, an overall performance point of view, paying a fortune, there is not much gain to go for a 997s from a C55 except the name 'Porsche' he is after. May be 05C55 really wants something lighter and available, then a Boxter S will be fun and refreshing! Or something even lighter such as the future M1 :p

avoid the porsche because of the
"rear main seal" problem.
go to rennlist.org and do a search on the subject.
the 997s, 997 and 996 engine are all subject to this problem.
if you go porsche get a used gt3 or 996tt.

Hey BlackC230Coupe

This is totally of topic but have you seen a lot of F355 for under 100k? I really haven't looked but was wondering if you had any good selling websites. My C55 is going to be repaired soon, and well, a car can get lonely in the garage all by itself.

Well, maybe sometime in the near future...Hopefully.

I heard numerous stories about it is hard and expensive to maintain a Porsche , especially a used one. Only the real Porsche lovers know how to manage these problems, and this is a chanellege.
With the almost problemless perfect C55, we are spoiled.

Cntlaw:

Check Autotrader.com

There are many 355s for sale in the $80-100K price range. Ferrariforum.com is a good source for info on the best model years/options.

There was a silver one listed here in San Diego a couple of weeks back for $99K. It needed some minor cosmetic work (leather on dash had shrunk and headliner needed repair). Autotrader.com currently has one or two listed at $110K, with many more in the $120-130K range.

I have looked at used Ferrari's and they are not particularly well made cars. The service requirements are very expensive. Not good daily drivers but certainly fun to talk about.

Figure about $1 a mile is what the service will cost you, and about $2.50 a mile if there's no warranty left, then add insurance, the payment, the depreciation, the gas...

Yeah, infact i think most are just about under 100k. Look on www.dupontregistry.com and there are alot under 100k.

While we are talking about next cars. Not quite sure when i will get a new one. But i know it would be either a 997S, or a slighly used 996TT, maybe a F355, or my dream if possibly my wallet is a bit thicker next time i get a car, i would want a 360 Modena CS more then anything! :p

All german/italian made cars with V-8/V-12 motors cost a fortune to fix and maintain after the warraties are up. Probably why $80k BMW's and Mercedes after 6 years are worth as much as a 6 year old Honda Accord, about $10k.

Thanks for the info's C230Coupe and Vomit,

I agree with you the 355 is definately a cool car and not in the total insane Ferrari price range......I guess insane is all relative ofcourse. I also like the F308 GTS, everyone knows it as the Magnum PI car....still looks pretty cool.

Anyways I know it debuted a few years back but I wonder if the Cadillac Sixteen will ever get produced....I probably doubt it, but the thing looks so stinkin cool....looks like the Batmobile.

In a few years, if my car worth only as a Honda, I will keep it until I die. So, I need not to waste any more money on cars :p

It is 2007 's C63

Is that really the 2007 c class? If so, with a complete body redesign are our c55 values going to plummet?

Guess it is 90% close :p
The entire C-Class W203 will drop value near end 2006, the formula is pretty universal. I have least worry about AMG cars, because smart guys buying our cars are the group of "sports car playboys" who would never want to pay for a brand new one. If the new C AMG , the new M3/M4 are higher priced; our C55 and C32 will be even more popular !

And then, if so, what is M5 there for ?
