Allow myself to introduce ... myself, new owner, questions

First of all, my actual name is Matt.

You all probably went through some of the same comparisons that I did when I bought my C55 last week, so I'll spare you the details about the S4,M3,CTS-V,S-Type R, E90 330i, etc... Except, I must re-iterate the the S4 just plain sucks.

Some of you might have read my first post in another thread about the NSX. That is the car I'm moving from. I wanted to move into a sedan, and the C55 is absolutely the best there is. It's not too big to be slow witted, it's not so harsh as to be a poor excuse for a sedan. It's fast as hell :v, handles very well, and I just plain love it.

I was able to find an '05 C55 with 5400 miles on it for sale in Houston. It's Capri Blue with Black leather. It has the command system/xenon lights, but not the parking sensors. It's a great car.

I have a few questions though...

1. I think the tire size is a little small for the kind of torque delivered through the rear wheels. So, I'd like to go wider. Does the C55 take the same size/offset wheels as the C32 or does the CLK front end of the car change that? How wide do people go in the rear 9.5-10"? How 'bout the front?

2. I noticed that someone has the CLK style grill (with MB symbol in the grill on their car). Is this a simple swap or is there something more to it?

3. Why does the Command system seem to lack the ability to show the street names of surface streets on the map but can show them directly on my dash when that's the street I'm driving on?

4. What happens to my MB warranty if I install the renntech airbox, software, and headers?

5. Does anyone else have the moonroof's sunshade slide back under hard acceleration? (I admit, it's kind of cool, but a little annoying)

6. How does one go about tweaking the suspension for a bit lower ride height without really comprimising the ride? Brabus? Renntech? Bilstein?

7. It looks like the guy that built my engine's name is Sasha something. Does anyone have the last name of that tech because I can't make out the signature?

Okay, that's more than enough questions. They're the kind of questions that could cost me a ton of money too, so you don't have to answer too quickly.

My car is in TX right now and I'm still driving my NSX in FL for a couple months until I graduate (computer engineering). So, I have time to ponder all of this.

Oh ya, one more question. Is there a good way to run the aux input from the dash into the center console? It's tough to reach my iPod when it's in the glove compartment!

Too many to list
I saw the listing of that exact car on ebay awhile back. I guess I know now who won the biddings or bought the car. Great looking car. Congrats!

Actually, I didn't find it on eBay. I didn't even bid. I got it from Autodynamics, but those are the pictures from NXCESS's autotrader ad. I actually found the ad after I already had the car. Let's just say, I got a really good price. I don't have my pictures of the car posted yet. They're sitting on my Dad's digital camera and he's having trouble posting them. I'd help him, but I'm 1400 miles away. I told him just to use Ofoto.

Anyway. I can't wait for classes to finish in June so I can get back to my girl(first) and my car(a distant second).

Late.

Welcome and congrats!

#2. I believe it is indeed a simple swap. Just have to do some unscrewing.

#5. This is a defect. Have the dealer check it out right away.

Congrats again and good luck.

Congrat. Regarding the issue of the tires, I think you might be right about them being small for the torque. There are several posts about the CLK grill. I have not done it but it looks good. It requires the CLK hood latch also.

NAV will show street names on the screen you need to zoom in on the map, second and third button from the bottom on the right to zoom in and out while the map is displayed.

Nice cars 05C55. I had considered keeping my NSX and buying a Titan, but it's literally too big for the neighborhood I'm moving to.

Do you have some pictures of your dash?

I've already zoomed in and I still only see the surface streets as lines, only the major roads have names on them, and even not all of them. I searched for more settings but could not find any. It's really strange because I know that the DVD has the street names because I can use small streets as destinations and I see their names on my dash.

I know what you mean. It bugs me. I did notice that if you actually program a destination the large display will actually display the street name you are on. Now if I can just find a way to do that when I don't have a destination programmed in....

Sweet car. Mind saying what you paid? I'm just trying to follow the market on these.

Thanks,
Kevin

Actually, there are reasons I don't want to say what I paid. I can say that it was north of $50k though.
