Brake rotors and pads

Does anyone know of a reputable online shop that sells replacement rotors and pads for the C32? It's about time to switch over and I was trying to get the parts for a little less than what the dealer would gouge me for.

Thanks,
Jon

Brake rotors

What companies offer upgraded rotors for the C32 calipers. I was thinking of Stoptech slotted rotors. I guess if Stoptech doesn't make a direct replacement rotor, I'd go with the factory Brembo rotor. I was also looking for pricing on Porterfields R4-S street/track pad for the C32.

Thanks,
Jon

The only direct replacement I know of is Brembo. You could try calling Stoptech to find out if they make replacements for C32 big brakes, but they definitely aren't listed on the website.

I e-mailed the sales department at Stoptech. They offer two direct replacement rotors for the 32. One is a slotted version, the other is cross-drilled. The quoted price for either rotor is $213 each. I thought that was pretty steep, and considering that I'm not going to track the car too much, I think I'm just gonna stick with the stock rotors. I've tried locating some online, but the places don't seem to really know the difference between pre-05 c-class brakes and C32/05 c-class brakes.

Thanks,
Jon

Jon,

Tell us more about these replacement rotors sold by Stoptech, are they two piece rotors? If so they might be worth a try for some of us. $213 is steep, but the stock ones run $160 ea.

Also, if you plan to run your car mostly on the street then I would stick with the stock brake pads as well. The R4-S pads will squeel and dust the front rims nearly as bad as the stock ones.

I'll try to find out the specifics on the Stoptech rotors. Thanks for the input about brake dust and such. I don't want to go around driving on cold brakes and have everyone look at my car like something is wrong with it, lol.

Thanks,
Jon

Stock C32 pads were $99.00 from the dealer.

Two OEM rotors were $317.20 from these guys-

The sales guy at Stoptech says that the rotors that cost $213 each are stock sized single piece rotors that can be either cross-drilled or slotted. Both variations cost the same. If the stock ones cost about the same, I might just go ahead and upgrade to the slotted Stoptech rotors.

What would be the difference between one-piece Stoptech rotors and the stock AMG rotors?

To be honest with you, the only difference I could fathom between the stock rotors and the slotted Stoptech rotors are that the Stoptech rotors are less prone to cracking under "extreme" (i.e.- track use) conditions and that the Stoptech rotors MAY be lighter than the stock cross-drilled rotor.

I'd be in for a group buy, I just wouldn't want to organize it. I've tried organizing a couple back when I had my honda, and it was a major headache.

I know the mods will only allow group buys through board sponsors, so Stoptech is probably out of the question unless it is all organized offline. Have you tried contacting Evosport to see what they can do?

Stock rotors

Does anyone know of a place that sells the stock C32 rotors and pads for a reasonable price online? I've been searching, but I've only come up with places that either sell the rears only or places that don't seem to know the difference between regular pre-05 c-class rotors and the C32 rotors.

Jon

What kind of car do you own?. This is a C32/C55 Forum and those rotors are for the standard C Class.

Per my earlier post, cryo-treated stock C32 rotors were $317.20 a pair. They'll slot the rotors for an additional $15.00 each if you request it.

Stock pads and stock rotors were $416.20 total.

I would not slot or drill any stock rotors on any car. It weakens them. Good slotted and drilled rotors have the holes/slots built in during manufacturing.
