hmm, i have a 3" lip on my 9.5" rears. 10s dont get you any more lip at all on the C-class with HRE's.
Btw, looks awesome!

probably because it may ruin the suspension geometery of the car? Saying a car performs better when you lower it isn't really right. In some instances it can help, but not always. A lot of things need to be taken into account. This applies to all cars: When you lower a car, you reduce allowable suspension travel without putting the car on the bumpstops. Driving a car fast with bump steer sucks. bumpsteer=instant oversteer. In order to compensate for the smaller amount of suspension travel, you need stiffer springs. But stiffer springs will be outside of the compression and rebound range of the damper. So you then also need to replace those. And lowering the car effects the alignment. And from what little I know about the C class suspension, I believe camber is unadjustable in the rear. Which means when you lower the car, you are stuck with whatever new values the drop gives you.
I personally have not lowered my C32, but if you want to take performance seriously, and not just the bling factor, you need to consider a lot of things.

I run Vogtland linear springs in the front only. It provides less understeer without having to add a rear anti-sway bar. Perhaps the lowering tip from Kleeman was regarding wheel clearance since he is running 19" x 8.5"s in front. BTW, I had Renntech springs all around with an H&R rear bar and the Vogtlands (front only) make the car perform better without over stressing the rear sub-frame. Just $.02.
