Anyone ever done a W211 E55 rear brake swap.

Anyone has experience with a W211 E55 rear rotor and caliper swap.

I am thinking of doing it mainly for looks as the E55 has a 330mm cross drilled rotor and a brembo caliper that will match the C32 fronts nicely.

Any concerns regarding if the bigger rears going to affect the braking bias of the car?

You need to make sure that the rear brakes do not lock earlier than the front brakes, else, it would be a disaster

Pudgy aka wide203 has e55 brakes retrofitted all around on his C240 w/ 430 V8 engine conversion widebody sedan.

if you want to do it... do it like pudgy, in a set. otherwise i dont think its gonna work well. your braking geometry is suppose to be setup in a certain way, front more than rear... if ur rear has the same grabbing power, it mite not be good.

what you need to worry about is piston diameter. Say a stock rear C32 brake piston is 30mm you would not want to go to caliper with 2 20mm pistons. On the C32 it is a twin poston while the E55 brake is a 4 piston kit.

I can see that the pistons on the E55 brake are smaller than those on the C32 so it may work.

Just make sure the sum of the pistons is not far from the sum of the current stock set-up. If you change this too much you will alter the brake bias. The larger piston takes more force to travel so if you increase piston size too much the brake bias will be less towards the rear and more to the front.

Also I swear the brake on the C32 is rear mounted while the brake on the E55 is front mounted. This will be an issue since the piston sizes are sometimes different if it is a leading vs trailing caliper design. This will also be an issue for mounting the kit to the car.

Good luck.
