C32 Exhaust
Is there a significant improvement changing to a set of aftermarket after cat exhaust system such as Supersprint?
I find the pipe's size similar to the original amg system and hence I'm skeptical with performance gain. Has anyone dissect an original amg muffler before. Is it a freeflow design?

You gain like no HP on these cars with an aftermarket exhaust. If you wanna better sound, get the eisenhaus race exhaust. I know the c55's stock muffler is made by sebring, not sure if the C32 is also. The only thing that would be different if you got a sebring is the tip style. Im sure it would sound identical.

couple of my friends have Brabus exhaust on their 230k/240 sedans and they sound awesome!! when we have friends gather around (modded bimmer, modded mbz, etc) they all say the Brabus sounds much nicer.

i have the eisenmann race exhaust on my c32. sounds loud, but not a noticable gain in power. i wasn't expecting power, but i wanted louder sound and to change the tip style, something different from just the stock tips. for $1200+, it's not the best ROI as many have just removed their resonator for like $30. no resonator + stock muffler and all stock cats is slightly deeper, rumblier, and a bit louder. you can remove your 2 rear cats (there will still be 2 there, because there's a total of 4), and then remove your resonator, and you might have an agressive setup. though from what i could tell from the videos, the no rear cats + no resonator combo is still not quite as loud or agressive as the eisenmann race. eisenmann is quite loud once broken in, and while it's great at WOT, it does drone for daily driving. i am looking into a midpipe setup to change the tone a bit in low rpm's. overall, a muffler setup is not the best value. if you want a little bit of power and some sound increase, i think removing the 2 rear cats and the resonator might be pretty economical.

Removing Rear Cat
Thanks everyone for the replies. I'm looking for performance gain, so I'll stick to the original system.
Btw, does removing the rear cats cause the check engine light to come out? Some cars I know do.

i am not expert on this but i don't think you'll pass visual test of smog in California. you might pass the sniffer because there are still 2 cats in place, but i think it's safer not to go to a random test hoping...
i remember hearing that removing the 2 rear cats do not cause CEL to go off because there are no 02 sensors after the rear cats, so there is no signal to trip. not sure, but i think some have done this and no CEL.
