Test drive an "E55" and you will be convinced, even though your pockets
may be slightly lighter :p :p

The E just feels like a better car and the C55 feels like a C230k with nappa leatehr. Given it is quick and has some nice touches but it still is a C230k at heart. Stock the C55 is not a sports car so why not just get the E500. I bet a race car driver would not be that much slower in a 2006 E500 when compared to the same driver in C55. The 7g in the W211 is simply in a class of its own. It never is out of the power band and it shifts faster and more crisply than the speedshift 5 speed.

I think the best point is this... is a C55 twice as good as a C230k? No its not. I had a C32 and it was fun but an E500 is just a better car. But watch out if you drive hard the E500 needs a brake upgrade ... and fast. But this is only seen in serious canyon driving and track use.

Anyhow the C203 chassis is near the end so why buy the last of the last? Wait for a W204 or get a W211 instead.

:p Sorry , I have to be a bit picky on what you said on the performance aspects about a 2 tons E500 with a c55.

Even I agree the E500 is 'little bit' slower than the C55, but that does not mean the E500 is fast; it is just C55 still not fast enough in some occasions.
And using example of a poor driver on a C55 and a better driver on a E500 is a bit too naive , misleading. Aren't true that we can sensibly assume AMG drivers are most of the time into race than E500 drivers?

And, because C55 is not twice as good as a C230K then go for a E500 - what kind of a logic is that? So, does it mean if a SL55 is not 'twice' as good as a SL350 then people who want a SL should go for a S500 instead ?

No means of picking words, I get your point there but it is cruel to
discriminate the C-Class just because most still think it happens to
be the 'entry' model. We must not forget some people just don't want to be on a big saloon because that make them look like old cows. And, how many E500s in the streets , and how many C AMGs ? This guy might have a taste of uniqueness too. I agree the only right thing you said is this guy should wait for W204 or a E500 if you assume this guy likes to have max. luxury comfort.(But why not the new S500 ?)

Here in Sa-Town, you see a "Ton" of C230's. The MB dealership here sold 65 last month. In the hospital parking lot where I work, I counted 5 new ones last Thursday That is why I want to move up to a C55. An E55 is a bit too big, and an S55 is too much cash

OK first off where did you get info that says the E500 is only half a second slower 0-60 then a C55? Its a whole second slower. Check it out its on the MBUSA website E500 0-60 5.9 C55 0-60 4.9.

The E500 feels like a better car if you like sloppy boat like floaty handling. I swear a E500 feels just like a S500 to me and I've driven both.

The C55 on the other hand feels nothing like a C230k. Come on who are we kidding hear. How can a C55 be a C230k at heart when the C55 has a completely different heart to being with? If the look and interior feel don't tell you anything then just push the gas pedal to the floor. Two and half seconds faster 0-60 is a big difference. Secondly is the C55 twice as good as the C230k? Uh, well if you measure a car by horse power and torque the C55 has almost double the hp and more than double torque than that of a C230k. So yeah I'd say its twice as good. Plus more options come standard and more performance parts are upgraded up and beyond that of a C230k.

Lastly, 203 body is coming to a end in spring 2007, but the current 500 engine is also coming to a end, so why buy a E500? When it will likely one get a new engine and two also get a slight body update.
