Passport 8500 X50
It does not jam cops or anything. Radar jammers are illegal nationwide and carry a huge fine. Radar freqs are regulated by the FCC. Laser is governed by the FDA if I am not mistaken. Also, X50 is pretty resistant to radar detector detectors.
I am pretty careful with the radar detector. I usually turn it off and take it down when I know I am getting a true signal or I see a cop.
I figure ticket for a radar detector is better than speeding ticket.
Checl out www.speedzones.com for a good review of radar detectors.

coz in HK, the cameras take pictures of our car's REAR LICENSE plates.
Their radar signals are focused the opposite direction of your radar detector
it is already really good to be able to pick up the signals.
look at the diagram:
your car with radar heading east is ....[==>
camera facing east is..... =>
radar signals heading east is..... >>>>>>
little or no signal is.......---------------

in the US. Cops usually habe the the radar signals aimed directly into your incoming direction, so your radar picks up much better...
Hi Derrick , guys
I need another radar device badly for another car.
I am using the Passport X50 on my C55 and very happy with it.
But it sounds that V1 is more suitable for HK environment?
Please help me out .
I also need a link to the 1 site.
Many thanks
cnt
Somehow this device does not work so well in Germany and picks up quite a few false frequencies.. it was the 3rd day when i was testing it i got my worst ticket.. i was paying my attention to this device and not knowing theres police car behind me (Disguised as a regular Mercedes, also place the dector to low...
).. then i got stopped... thank god i was quick and hid the detector in time...I have heard you can put europe mode on V1s, can someone please confirm that?
Anyways if any of you want my passport 8500 X50 blue, just drop me a PM. Its just like new... I paid quite a lot for this device since they dont deliver it to Europe so I had to have it send to my friend first and had it send to me... anyway any reasonable price will be fine.. just make me an offer!
I am not sure but did the unmarked police car behind you use laser and video recording ? No radar detector will work against laser, hence the name radar detector and not laser detector.
While my X50 does pretty well against radar I got a ticket in Michigan the other day where they were using laser guns.
I would think ,in Germany, the X50 will help you gainst the stationary radar traps but against an unmarked patrol car
, you are powerless.
There is a very loud sound like an old fashion mechanical alarm clock, when there were laser guns nearby. Isn't it true ?
Versions 3.821 and higher have the "Euro" mode(enabled through feature character "u" = down arrow).
The Euro mode improves Ka Photo(Multa-Nova) covers Ka and K Pop as well as Ku band(Mini-Gatso) radars.
It does quite well on the Multa-Nova frequencies and should out perform any competitor by a significant margin.
European Mode Description (Valentine One version 3.821 and higher)
Beginning with version 3.821, all Valentine One's will include the function of "European Mode".
This mode will configure the Valentine One to concentrate it's operation on the radar bands popular in most European countries. These radar bands are listed below:
Ka Photo Radar band (MULTANOVA 6F - enabled in either "U" or "u" modes)
Ku Radar band (enabled when user function "H" is enabled)
K Radar band (disabled in "u" mode)
Ka Pop band (BEE III - enabled in either "U" or "u" modes)
K Pop band (ENFORCER - disabled in "u" mode)
* The "Euro" mode can be enabled by entering User Programming and manipulating the "u" feature. The user will see "E" "u" "r" sequence on power-up when "Euro"mode is enabled.
* To enable the "K false suppression", the user must program the "7","b","C","d","E","F" and "G"features as in previous versions.
* During "Euro" mode operation, the user will see either "u" or "U" in the Bogey Counter display.
* The "U" mode will cause the Valentine One to sweep both K Radar band and Ka Photo Radar band.
* The "u" mode will cause the Valentine One to sweep the Ka Photo Radar band ONLY.
* The "H" feature will enable Ku band for either of these modes.
* The "J" feature will disable Pop detection. ("U" or "u" modes)

"This year, the measurement of the radar and laser detection abilities of each of the over $200 units gives the Valentine One ($400) a small edge over the competing BEL Vector 995 ($260) and Escort Passport 8500 X50 ($300 with red display or $340 with a blue display) units."
V1 is the best in laser detection:

V1 has the best rear radar detection because it is the only detector with 2 antennas to locate radar:

V1 is the least detectable detector by RDD's or Radar Detector Detectors in states where radar detectors are illegal. The Spectre III is the most used RDD in the world and it can only pick up the Valentine One if it is 166 feet or closer which is better than the X50 which can be detected 954 feet away.

The Valentine One which accounts for only .6% of radar detector sales wins every poll when it comes to being the favorite detector. The X50 doesn't even get an approval rating as high as George Bush's worst rating.

Radar Roy from Radarbusters.com said this about the Valentine One, "Just spoke with Carl Fors from SML, his website will be going online tonight with the 2005 results. He has declared the V895, 8500 and the Valentine One as the top performers. Motortrend, who was also at the test, will be declaring the Valentine One as the top detector based upon its detection of laser.

Radar Roy said, "There were results that they (Guys of Lidar) got during the test that I was not exactly pleased with, such as the discovery of the Blinder not having Stealth Mode installed and the Valentine beating out the Escort and Bel in the range tests. Even though I don’t sell the Valentine, it does have slightly better range than both the RX65 and the 8500 and I also show this same fact on my site. Would love it to be the other way around."
Here is a link and video of the V1 alerting to radar quicker than the X50 and sometimes the X50 didn't alert to the radar at all. They are quick pulling the radar guns trigger and the X50 is filtering it out and the V1 is picking it up every time.

V1 wins because it detects laser gun in stealth mode while the X50 remains silent:
