Angry Problem with AC distribution

Has anyone had this same issue in the past/present?

If you're in San Diego or So. Cal. you'll know that the past week has been torture climate-wise. My climate control decides to act up this week everytime I get in the car. The driver's side vents will have warm air blowing for a while until I get up to highway speed (50mph or so). The passenger side vents blow cold air and appear to be working normally. What gives?

The climate control is not in AUTO mode. The fan is on full blast with the AC on. It appears that increasing the temp on the driver's side for a split second then dropping it back down to 64 fixes it sometimes. Has anyone else experience this?

It sounds as if the left side heater control valve is malfunctioning. For dual temp control - there are two heater cores with two heater (coolant) control valves. Either the left is getting stuck or is getting the wrong value from the HVAC controls (left temp control). Does the system malfunction is AUTO mode?

The system malfunctions regardless of what mode it is in. I am taking the car in for service this weekend so hopefully they have a fix. Better yet, I hope I can replicate the problem while the car is there. It acted up for a week straight then did not act up this weekend.
