Question Help me interpret my dyno graph?

Ok, so I've never dyno'd a car before (maybe because I never had a car worth dynoing until the C55 ) so what do these figures mean?

The car is totally stock with less than 5000 miles and the car was dyno'd in 4th gear and in dyno mode. The air temp was around 80 and I'm pretty much at sea level. I did a search and it seems that other people dyno'd their cars in 3rd gear so did I make a mistake and does it make a difference.?

Max Power is 298.0
Max Torque is 310.3
Average A/F ration is 12.2

Are these good numbers?

I have green filters lined up and I'm thinking of doing the Kleeman ECU upgrade so this was my attempt at a baseline reading.

The gear doesn't matter since a dyno run is a measurement of engine speed vs. wheel speed over time. Your numbers are good for a stock C55. The last one I saw dyno'd did 298 hp/294 tq. Aside from air temp and altitude, humidity can make a difference in your run, but your results are still pretty accurate. Nice baseline!

I would say that your numbers are slightly above average. I don't think that the 3rd vs. 4th gear issue is pertinent.

You are just about average for C55. Some are in low 290s, some are in low 300s.

If you are looking for more power:

1. Green Filters
2. Software
3. Underdrive Pulleys
4. Resonator Bypass.

Mods above would give you around 20 more RWHP.

As a reference:

My old C32 dyno: 294 rwhp and 292 torque

I think NormC32's old C32 did 302 rwhp

Dyno Numbers

Genechien. Your number look right on target , My o3 CLK 5.5 has pulled as low as 298.4 on the first pull in 3rd gear. 2nd was299.4 in 3rd 3rd was 298.6 in 3rd. air temp was 83 degrees f. Baro was 30.31 . I cann't find the humidity. , but here in FL. it's normally up there. We also did a 4 gear run and saw a small increase, We used a dyno Jet.
I have installed a set of under drive pulleys from EVOsports. You can view it @ AMGpower.com go to Forums . then CLK 55. Author PTE. great addition to the mid reange ,but only a little on top. For around town . Stop lght to stop light. it helped. I had already did the ECU upgrade ,but through Kleemann. Did not know about EVosport at that time. When you are finished , Look at a Limited slip Diff.

The gear makes a difference. Your looking for the gear with a one to one ratio as the standard for a dyno run.
This is not always the case as with the 6speed supra the 1:1 gear is fifth but 99% of people dyno in fourth due to the fact fifth runs the speed so high older dynos will kick the run out and newer ones may have to have the speed limit manually set higher. On a supra back to back we hit 567rwhp in fourth and 596rwhp in fifth of course the more power the car makes the wider the gap on gear ratio will become.

I dynoed mine in fourth as well when it was stock 298rwhp 05 C55 on my dynojet 248. Your car is fat up top as are most stock but a tuned ECU should help that out.

I'm sorry, but I find this to be disappointing.... I had my old completely stock C32 dyno'd at Swift Racing Technologies and got 302 hp on the 3rd run... Temp was around 70ish... Then again possibly believable considering that edmunds only managed 13.95 in the quarter with a C55.. Is it save to say that since these are handmade engine that there would be more variability in performance between the different engines?

If your old C32 dynoed at 302 that's pretty good. If we take a 20% driveline loss that means it was at 377.5hp!

It was... I was expecting 275ish (thinking it was an avg. of the pack C32), but I was pleasantly surprised.. I feel that my C55 is a little quicker than my old C32, but I've never timed either so I don't know. I will say that on a cold & dry day that C32 was fast as **** and probably quicker than the C55... On the other hand, that heatsoaked supercharged V6 was very disappointing during muggy DC summers...

No, and I don't want to because I'll probably end up stopping by the pub on the way home to get plastered because the C32 had a better dyno figure...

Won't mod it because:
1. My car is leased
2. Renntech mods are expensive (even for marginal gains)
3. I've already beaten an M5 (on the highway) and killed a G35 coupe
4. It's still the fastest beast in its class and I have no complaints about the 376 lb/ft of torque..

The TQ numbers on the 55 should be up from your 32 I would guess. Also my numbers were with 110 degree air temp early july weather in GA.

Edmuds needs a new driver mine pulled a 13.15 bone stock on street tires I left without ESP on a good prepped track with 105 degrees surface track temp. I had to leave about 2K and roll into the power with the stock tires, I think some BFG radials would get it just in the 12s stock. I am bringing my race car testing this weekend between rounds I am going to run the AMG hope for a mid/low 12 or better with the mods.

We normaly show to most of the Seloc events that close to the shop. If my tranny comes back in time I will be in SC testing but if not we may drag the race trailer up there with a few cars and I will bring the 55 as well.
