Weighed My Wheels @ Discount Tire

Strangely enough, the wheels and tires came in much lighter than I expected.

My car came with the Conti Sport Contact 2's.

Front ~ 45.5 lbs
Rear ~ 47 lbs

Very strange. I heard somebody had a stock rear set up that weighed in at 56lbs.

Could the wheels be lighter for 06??

How many miles do you have on your tires? The diff between new tires and worn tires can literally be 3-4 lbs. My worn Rossos on the same wheels were 3 lbs. lighter than the new ones.

Tires are brand new. About 100 miles on them.

Vomit,

I ordered the Flik Artic wheels (same as your I believe). The package with 235/40/18 PS2 and 255/35/18 PS2 weighed ever so slightly more than my stock set up.

I was completely shocked...

Though, the grip and handling would be significantly improved with the Flik set-up, correct?

The 18x8.5 Fliks/PS2s were heavier than your stock 18" AMG wheels with the same size Contis? This would be surprising. I am not really familiar with the Conti weights, however. Are they super light?

BTW, what color Fliks did you get and what color is your car? Photos? Also, let me know if you find anyone who makes a MBZ (star) or AMG center cap for the Fliks (instead of the Flik ones)! I looked, but could not find.

V,

No, the tires were larger with the Fliks. 235 vs 225 and 255 vs 245.

Not sure on the contis being ultra light weight, though I think they are a pound or so less than the PS2s.

I bought the silver fliks for a silver car...I too am looking for wheel caps. Can't stand the one that came on the Fliks...I am thinking of repainting them.

The 255s in the rear really help with traction. Do you have a 55 or a 32?

Actually, it makes sense. The wider PS2 tire widths will, of course, make them a little heavier. The Fliks are probably about 3 lbs lighter than your stock rear wheels, and about 2 lbs lighter than your stock front wheels. So, assuming that your larger PS2s are at least a couple of pounds heavier than your smaller Contis, and you have your explanation.

If you want to go super light (and cheap) for track racing, you can pick up the 18 lb. 17" Flik Lex wheels. They don't look very nice (to me, at least-I bought a set of four of them, and they are sitting in my garage) on an AMG, but they would make great beater wheels.

How do the silver Artics look on your silver 55? I bet that people have no idea how inexpensive these wheels are when they look at your car.
