Has anybody had any problems with a gas tank defect?
Has anybody had any problems with a gas tank defect? I just bought my silver c32 used with 900 miles on it and as soon as i drove it off the lot it started making a clanking sound in the right rear of the car. I took it in and they treated me incredible(considering that i had just bought the car) and was given an E320 to drive around in. They said that the problem was that the gas gauge, somehow, was loose in the gas tank or something. I am pretty knowledgable about cars but did not ask any questions about the problem. Maybe i should have....
They had to order a part from Germany, a gas tank, so it took a week and a half. When I got it back i noticed, after driving for about 5miles that the gas gauge was off by a third of a tank. I never got above 30MPH and i had consumed a third of a tank! Well, i really did not worry about it until just now, 4 hours later, when coming back from showing my friends this great car that the noise that i had heard a week ago came back ten times as loud!
I'm taking it back to the dealer tomorrow to raise some hell with the service manager. Has anybody had some sort of problem with there gas tank and/or gauge? I'm starting to regret trading in my BMW x54.6is.
