removing scoff marks from vinyl dash areas

I have a white mark that I can not remove on the surface of the glove compartment. Its faint and about 1 x 3 inches. Is there a dye I can use to blend it in???

Details? What kind of car? What color dash? Pictures?

I've used Isopropyl alcohol for certain types of scrapes where there is material left from whatever scraped it (what did?). You can definitely dye it but need to be very careful. We'll need details I asked about above to give you real help.

black, I used alcohol and rubbed it gently but it made it fainter but not totally removed. I see the grain of the vinyl, so it is still a surface mark.
