28K miles!!!!???? Why would one buy a rare car like that and not have a regular "daily" driver?? Who ever owned it drove the hell out of that thing within one year!!! It may be carfax cert. or whatever, but I still wouldn't buy it even for $35K!...or am I being a little critical??? :p

Rare car?
It's a C-Class?

I count four on ebay, and six withing a few hundred miles in the National Pre-Owned inventory Search on mbusa.com of my zipcode.

It does have a lot of miles but if it were MB CPO, I'd buy it for $35k. My C32 is my daily driver although I don't drive much. I don't understand the point of buying an AMG to have it sit in a garage. They certainly don't make us any money. I say drive the hell out of it until the warranty expires then sell it.

The C55 is a rare car.... I live in Bethesda, MD (just outside DC) and I've seen only a 4-5 different C55s in the year I've owned it...

I actually think it sounds like a pretty good deal as well. This example perfectly illustrates the problem with leasing. The average person drives 30 thousand miles a year, not 12 or 15. Buying a 2005 at 60 percent of it's Msrp is a deal any time, imo.

Well said... Why pay 60k for a car and not drive it. I will drive the hell out my C32.

Uh just guessing here, but I don't think the average is 30K a year. That's 82 miles a day!

It's rare to me because I've never seen a C55 or a C32 anywhere near where I live. I know a dealer here in Canton had one once, but I've never seen it on the road!!!

I drive my CLK500 about 35k miles a year..... Just as most stated, why buy such a nice vehicle and not drive it...... I do drive about 100ish miles a day to and from work plus trips to NYC on weekends so I am certainly getting my use of the vehicle. But that doesn't mean my car is crap after one year.... I would buy that C55 for 40k......

Wtf?

At the local Porsche/Audi dealership (Rockville Porsche Audi), there's an 03' BMW M3 with 19K miles going for $43,900.... WTF? I sold my 03' C32 a year and a half ago for $42K (and it had only 11K miles)....

No Offense, but to each his own. For some ppl the C55 IS their regular 'daily' driver. I think we some times forget that our car is after all a C Class. It is not that rare, they are easy to find these days.

Don't get me wrong I LOVE this car, it puts a smile on my face everytime I get behind the wheel, and since I like smilin I get in it as much as possible

I dont know if I'm just different, but I dont understand the ppl that buy cars and then just let them sit. A car is NOT an investment it will always (well almost always) depriciate, so my feeling has always been: I'm paying good money for it, I'm gonna use it.

Use it, Enjoy it, Care for it, Love it... Don't Worship it.

Oh yea, my 2005 C55 just ticked over 38,700 miles.

PS If you're ever in Akron near the campus there is a pub on exchange called Manny's They have some pics of my car on display there from the last time I visted.

Well those would definetly be highway miles...which shouldn't be to bad. The car still has its warranty. As far as a C55 daily driver, that can be said for anyone not driving a compact car. Trucks/SUV/luxury cars are not the cheapest way to drive but more enjoyable, practical based on your needs than a subcompact/compact car. There are trade-offs to everything.

Well, I guess since I've never owned a nice brand new MB I don't know what's it like to own such a nice machine. But also since I've never owned one and when I do it won't be like I can trade it in or buy another one when I feel like it...like it seems most here can...I will be more of a worshipper!!! That's my point of view!!! Although, it's certainly great to know that you guys are enjoying your cars!!!

Keep chillin',

You have one and you still consider it rare?
Perhaps I'm really not understanding the mentality some folks have, not that I'm trying to be mean, I guess I just got a little irked that someone was calling a C55 rare in a sense that they should preserve it rather than drive the hell out of it.

NY C32 summed up my thoughts perfectly in other words:

I by no means consider the C55 to be an exotic and I DO believe it should be driven otherwise it's a big waste (considering it's a depreciating asset).. That being said, I do consider it to be rare... It's a slow selling vehicle compared to the M3. I see probably 5 late model E55s compared with 1 C55...

Hm, perhaps I'm biased as there are multiple AMG's in my neighborhood.

I guess I never found any of these BMW/Mercedes cars to be considered rare, if I saw a Lamborghini though or something it'd be a different story.

Well that explains it then... If you'd beam down to Earth with the rest of us, you'll see a C55 once in a blue moon...

It's only 1/3 the price of a used one here with the same reading.

That's true EKaru! Here where I live isn't exactly a "booming" city like it used to be...in fact it has very little wealth if you all know about NE Ohio's dilemma's at all! So, to me seeing a C230K on the road is a rarity!!! Sorry if my responses "upset" anyone...obviously my reality is quite a bit different than all of yours!! But, if you guys say it's a good deal for that C55 then I guess it's a good deal. PEACE!!!
