Let me start out by saying I can't help you, as I do not yet own the C55. That said, I am fairly curious to know in what aspect of performance are you less than satisfied in your C55. Not meant to be critical in the least, but just would like to have some idea. Enjoy your new mini-beast!

The car is great!! I want more power in the car...the engine is already great but I enjoy the "off the line power"! 362hp is great, but I would love to beat a M5 off the line...espically when they don't have any idea what's under the hood.

Appreciate your evaluation. I know you'll get the info you need here. Hope to see you post often, so that I can vicariously live the experience! Careful with those M5s

Couple of questions for you...I'm planning on ordering my C55 tomorrow.

1) How long did your order take?
2) What color? I'm thinking the metallic gray with black interior + wood.
3) Break-in period?

Green airfilters

This is suppossed to be good for an added 20h.p. and 24 ftlbs torque.

1. The dealership in my area had it in stock. They gave $1500 under invoice so it was great deal. Plus they gave me a lot more for my trade in.
2. I got the silver with black interior, no wood.
3. About a 1000 miles...it's still breaking in a little bit..but it's an amazing car!

How much power are you looking for? You mentioned something about wanting enough to beat an M5...are you referring to the E60 or E39?

If you want "big" power, you'll need a supercharger.

I'm planning on picking up a C55 in the next week here in San Diego area. Any recommendation on MB of San Diego vs Escondido vs Laguna Niguel?

The C55 is seriously deficient in the handling department. The 225f/245r tires simply aren't enough to cope with the 3500 lbs of car and the 370 ft-lbs of torque. I'd recommend getting some larger wheels/tires, at least up to 235f/265r sizes and as high-performance a design as you are willing to run.

Don't know about the other 2, but I got mine at MB of SD and they were just fine. The Service Dept is VERY busy though. If you live closer to N.County, I'd at least check them out for this reason.

Keep us in the loop on your purchase!

I got mine from Escondido, they treated me right on my purchase. I did not like MB of San Diego. I have heard good things about Laguna Niguel.

If you think the stock C55 is SERIOUSLY deficient in the handling department, then you're also implying that BMW's M3 is also SERIOUSLY deficient. Many people (especially die hard BMW fans) erroneously assume that the C55 can't handle very well compared to the benchmark M3.

I made a post in a BMW M forum recently about this topic. Have a read. The responses I got were surprisingly civil:
http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=306879

But I agree with you that getting fatter tires front and back can only improve the existing traction with stock tires during launch and during hard cornering. The stock Pirelli PZero Rosso's are not the best in terms of grip in the dry.

Oh, I wasn't implying that any M car was better or worse than the C55... I simply have taken the C55 to Infineon Raceway and it fell very short of my expectations.

What kind of tires do you recommend? Will they fit on the stock rims?

The latest Car and Driver magazine did a comparison of summer performance tires. You should check that issue out.

Most people consider the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 to be a great overall performance tire.

With regards to tire sizes on stock rims, you can safely go up to 255/35 R18 on the rear without causing ESP/ABS problems. For the fronts, I think you should stick with 225/40 R18.
