ODPS dyno graph

Here is dyno for ODPS on my C32.
Blue run is stock. Red with ODPS.
The run is made from 0-145 through first 4 gears.
The dips in the curve are torque converter spikes as transmission shifts.
1st to second is at 41 mph, as engine revs in the second gear you can see it running out of intercooler capacity, as charge temperature hits 150F, DME pulls timing out more and more, look at the dip in second gear from 55 mph to 65 mph.

Than as car shifts into third, there is very little advance and power dies almost to zero until 3rd gear engages. DME is not sure about bringing the timing back, dip at 69 mph. By that time intercooler has cooled off and DME starts to ramp timing back up all the way to the end of the 3rd gear. We are doing OK, until higher charge temperature starts pulling timing out again at around 135mph.

Now, on the street the airflow around the intercooler will be greater and it will not drop as dramatically.

I will be doing some more testing within next couple of days. I will post the results.

Thank you for listening.

Vadim,

Is this with the colder plugs installed? If not, what effect would they have?

Sparkplugs:

If the power reduction is due to a knock sensor reducing timing then they might help reduce the detonation and keep timing from being pulled back. If the timing is pulled back from an increase in Air Temp sensor input then they would do nothing to increase power, but would be a precaution measure to help prevent detonation.

Boo2: Plugs are on order. C32 uses NGK Iridium plug and no one has them locally. I will retest with colder plugs as soon as I can get them

Zeppelin: Timing is being pulled back due to high air charge temperatures. I have not seen or heard C32 detonate.

is this noticeable where the power dies to zero. looking at the stock graph, the power does not go down that dramatically.

would this affect 1/4 or 0-60 times?

Good Work

Vadim,

Thanks for your efforts and moreover thanks for keeping us posted as to your progress. I think folks would agree that this is a great learning tool for all of us. It is not often that the curtain is rolled back so we can appreciate the whole process.

Was your car cold, cool, warm or hot at the start of the dyno runs? And roughly what is the time duration of one of there runs?

Looks as 150 ACT is sort of a magic number, timing is removed very very quickly once the system sees 150.

BTW is "IAT" exactly the same as what you refer to as "ACT"? my scanner uses the IAT variable not ACT.

Boo2: Colder plugs reduce misfires. If you look at the graph. In forth gear it is a bit rougher than in other gears. Those are misfires caused by high ACT.

Amgme: This is just the first step. The kit will come with more parts to make sure that the graph is smooth and there is enough capacity in intercooler system to handle more boost.

rrf: You are welcome. Car was cool. IAT/ACT were at 98F when we started the run. On very next run that we did right after, power went down 35HP and IAT went up to 194F.

And you are right IAT is the same as ACT.

P.S. I have two more crank pulleys being made. These will utilize steel sleeve to keep oil seal from eating into pulley snout. One of those will come to you in a set. Should be there within next couple of weeks. Thanks again.
