CLE55 AMG 390hp?
Following the lead of its new CLS, the E-class-derived four-door coupe, Mercedes-Benz is planning a four-door, C-class-based coupe called the CLE to shake up the next generation of its smallest range, which arrives in mid-2006.
The CLE will utilize now-trendy rear suicide doors in a slick, low-slung package. Engines will range from a supercharged 170-hp, 1.8-liter direct-injection four to a 390-hp, 5.5-liter AMG V-8. To save costs, the CLE will use the roof of the next CLK coupe.
It is hard to believe , MB built the C-Class W203 based CLK, and then a E-Class based CLS, and now to add another W203 based CLE!
A good example of speed to market if a CLE true.
( a possibility that the CLE AMG is built to share the cake with M3 E90 420hp V8 coupe )
Interesting, hope soon to see in reality that AMG is going to boost up the 5.5 AMG engine from 367hp (Euro stds) to 390hp ! With the 7G-Tronic, I might have a justifcation to move to a 7-Speed 390hp CLE55 AMG from my 367hp 5-Speed C55. Of course, M3 E90 is still on my list.
BTW, look like the CLE is based on W203, not W204?

Isnt the new 5.5 L V8 that debuts in the S550 going to have 388 HP? Is MB going to put a off the shelf engine into an AMG?
