Everyone with the 93Octane and Netherland Setting

Hey Guys I just asked my dealership to do these to settings and first they told me it can't be done on the c32 and then I called again and they said that making these changes could void the warranty. So my question is all of you who have these settings did your dealerships say it could void the warranty. I don't see how these minimal changes can affect anything with the warranty.
Thanks PETE

i've heard of the netherland setting but what is the 93 octane setting, if this is refering to the fuel mixture i have put 95/97 & 98 octane fuel in my car and didn't have to change a thing, is it due to it being a lower than recomended level

as far as making the warranty invalid that doesn't make any sense to me, why have it on there at all if your not meant to use it

do a search for the 93 octane RON setting it's a little better than the stock default setting.

It is their way of telling you that they dont want to offer any non-standard coding. Either that or they dont want to have to explain it to head office should you complain.

As far as the "Netherlands setting," just tell them you want your car to beep when you lock it. As far as the 93 setting...I have no idea. Neither of these should have any warranty involvement whatsoever. Sounds like the dealer just does not want to deal with your request and this is their way of getting rid of you.

Supposedly they switched mine to 93 octane setting upon pick up when new at my request. From my recollection, there is the North America standard setting, 91 setting and 93 setting. Someone, somewhere on this forum claimed that it increased HP by as much as 25HP, but who knows.

The only thing I know for certain, when I was looking around before I took delivery, I noticed that the tests conducted in England, South Africa and some other countries, the C32 at the time seemed to test in the 4.6-4.9 second range 0-62mph (0-100km/hr). When doing the head to head with the M3, the C32 seemed to pull away in the tests from these countries. The US magazines always had them consistantly at 5.1-5.2 second 0-60 time for the C32 and most/all had the C32 slightly slower.

What was the difference???? I would guess that the poor fuel in North America forces MB to set the octane setting to the lowest rating, or, the temperatures in the test countries were cooler. Who knows.

Being in Canada, I notice a huge difference between summer and winter power. In the summer the car is quick, but on a dry cold winter day the car is a monster beast, completely different vehicle.

I have the same experience. I wonder if we can do something with the Intercooler (bigger?...) or other mods to keep things cool and have that power all the time. I think Evo had a kit that was like a resonator piece, green filters, and a spacer for the supercharger?...

I also wondered about the performance/gas/settings for various regions.
