Lowering Springs: Cost? Labor Time?

I really need some help on this one. I have been researching springs for about a month now and am very frustrated with conflicting information I've been getting/reading. I post the following email as a starter (follow thread backwards):

{{I don't guarantee anything when it comes to lowering those cars unless it is a coilover suspension. We can fine tune with that one. As for the gap, there are ways that you can make them a bit closer using factory shims but this takes time and sometimes, the shims that are needed are not in stock at the dealer. Most springs will ride the same whether it's KLEEMANN or Renntech. I can get the Renntech springs if that is what you want. I need a day to do the springs(if we don't have to do shims). It will take another day to align it. So you can figure on 2 full days to do the job. I'm scheduling for mid to late Feb. as we are swamped.

Let me know,

,

With the Kleeman springs, can you guarantee an equal gap all the way around? Also, do you know about the ride compared to say, renntech springs (which were supposedly custom tuned to the C32 suspension)? I am very interested, but would need to schedule this. How long would this procedure take? Thanks for the answers.

Hello Todd,

Thanks for the email. We can do a set of KLEEMANN lowering springs on your Mercedes for $895 installed which includes an alignment. We do not stock these parts so I would need to order them in. I would require a $350 deposit in order to schedule your car in and order the parts.

Let me know if you would like to proceed,

Hello,

I just got your name as a reference from another member on MBWorld.com forum. I live in Sarasota and am looking to have my 2003 C32 AMG lowered, especially the front. I would like to have the same gap all the way around; maybe 1 inch. Although I have some understanding about what this should cost and what to buy, etc., I have yet to find someone here in Sarasota who can install decent springs for a reasonable price. I would be willing to drive to Tampa if the price and time is right. Please let me know what options I may have and/or how you can help me. Thanks much.}}

Todd

Now, I know this does not sound completely unreasonable, but I have been told by others on this forum that they have had springs (even Renntech) and alignment done for less than $500 (parts and labor)...and in a matter of two to three hours. Can someone else please give me their expert opinions about this issue? My time is really tight and two days out of town and about $900. is not real doable for me right now. Thanks ahead of time for your help.

I can help giving you quotes on the springs that you might be looking for as well.

I paid $520 installed (Renntech)

$89 alignment after 1 month of springs set.

springs are very simple to install, and it only takes 2 hours.

$350 springs $150 labor

TopGun, where oh where did you get Rentech springs for $350? The best I've been quoted here in Florida (where Renntech is) is $499.

The Wheel Shop in Walnut Ca. (TWS)

The owner's name is Sander.

The guy had 1 set left and a whole bunch of Brabus springs..

The Renntech kit was $350 and the Brabus were about the same.

He said it was a one time price for me, but I'm pretty sure you can get a similar deal.

Brabus or Renntech should be about equal.
