Daily Driver - out of warranty, time to modify! Baseline Dyno today!

Decided now to do some stuff to the daily driver... but before I get crazy on it... got to figure out what the baseline is now after 59k miles. So Dyno day!

Bone Stock - 2002 C32 AMG

Here were today’s results

First try the damn AMG Speedshift downshifted midway through the run (yes, this was with DYNO mode active), tricking the dyno a bit...to the amount of nearly 366 TORQUE! ...while I was like...holy ****, i figured the downshift in mid run would have to play havoc...

Getting straight to the point, the best run of the day

273 RWHP
281 RWTQ

for a bone stock, 59,000 mile 2002 C32 AMG... not to shabby

This was a different screen that they pulled up for me on the 3rd run, still solid on tq

Finally i ended the day with doing a "DYNO" Quarter Mile, i figured it would do a bit better than what she put down, but they were saying that if my reaction time was a tid bit faster and a little less wheelspin (yes, wheelspin on the dynowheel) on takeoff; I should of had a 8.8ish 1/8th and 13.6ish ...which is more in line with stock.

Net of the day, figure little mileage fatigued the car some, but its pretty near the 349HP/332TQ stock crank numbers after you figure the 20% to 22% drivetrain loss like most all cars.

...................

So what direction should I go first? Pully/ECU? Filters? Intake? Exhaust?

I think you should drive the DB9 more often.

Carry on

Awesome, you're following my planned procedure for when my warranty runs out this spring. In general, get base runs, then make little changes and measure my performance after each tweak - to the car, but mostly to myself. You are now my guinnea pig

What are your plans and in what order? What are your goals (handling, auto-x, bling, etc...) But more importantly, what is your general background/experience in car maintenance (will you do the work yourself?), but also as a driver?

I have the same car, have you dealt with the tranny jerk, glycol contamination, seat heaters, side-mirrors drifting, purge valve tapping, front bushings/swaybar rumbling, all 20 lugs simultaneously squirting off the wheels, A-pillar twisting into a balloon party-snake by a clown who pops out of the glove-box, every glass surface of the car beamed aboard alien space-craft, reverted to base elements, re-combined into popcorn and beamed back into place on the car.

This car is awesome, I love it, I always dreamed of having it, I feel like I'm participating in a legend, I haven't been able to get the ****-eating grin off my face for 4 months, I didn't want to drive it in the winter, but it's so f***ing fun I can't stop, I promise this will be the only winter it ever sees again, after this I'm going to mod, care for, and pamper it (to a degree ) but it's kinda junky until you take care of the common problems.

That said, I think it will be excellent once we replace the components that are poorly made/engineered.

I'm going to do rims/wheels and suspension first (just springs I think, and see how it feels - cheap and easy), then driving classes, then chip, then more classes, then more exotic stuff like cams, headers, LSD, etc... much later.

That is unless I had a DB9. Then I would probably never get out. Is there room to sleep in the back of it?

if you want power... pulley then ECU or both if you have the $$

if you want handling, go for the springs or COILovers if you have the $$

delete the resonator and add a greenfilter...

this will be for starters...

good luck!

If you can, get some Bi-xenons and some better shoes.
