the two turbos on some of the other pics seem really really tiny.. and didn't seem to have a lot of space around. since it's two small ones, i wonder if it'll feel out of breathe near the top. a small mitsu 13g turbo generally runs out of steam compared to a bigger turbo like 18T or 19T, and seeing how they quote saying minimal/no turbo lag.. i wonder.. unless they have something similar to those variable turbine vanes or something from porsche

just wanted to point out that mb had the sc'd c32 b4 the c55... yeah sc isn't quite the same as tt.. but still.

you are argumen is valid.

however do you know much $$ you need to ge more HP out of a M3 E46..

AA supercharger will run you $11k+ and if you want a Stage 2 another $1500.

C55 is the same in terms of price. Kleemann mods are not cheap.

Having the ability to have a solid inline 6 with 2 turbos will be an easier way to produce HP faster and cheaper.

Just think of Supra, 300zx, VR-4, and how much hp those engines can produce.

Now, I'm not saying that the new 3.0 TT BMW can take lots of boost, we don't know yet. But I can safely say, it will made to handle plenty more power.

Also the handling of the 3's is legendary and the coupe looks better than the sedan.

I love AMG, but I prefer a FI engine anyday compared to NA.

In terms of pricing. Do you know how much it cost for a new Camry XLE? $30k.

so prices are going up... paying $45k for a car is not as what it used to be. Also the new M3 will be closer to $60k and probably the C63.

not until we know something about W204,
I believe no sports sedan now can beat E90 except RS4
not to say now E92 will have 306hp Turbo engine and the
new M3 's 410hp.
E46 is history.
C55 , without some proper mods, no chance.

u can get either a good chip or a good ecu flash for $500 to $1000 and yield 40..50 hp (on paper).. dependent on the turbo's characteristics..

absolutely, i should be planning time and budget for my C55 big mod. here we can't justify to sell a 110K C55 just 20mths, power lovers can now choose the same priced 2007 CLK500, E500 with 388hp 5.5 litre engines 7sp versions. i probably start with 19" and some lower springs...the ECU chipset...etc

I prefer a good NA engine to a Turbo. The throttle response is too soft and generally non-linear. I`ve owned 2 modified Nissan Skylines and although the headline power figures look impressive, the driveability is compromised, not to mention the cost of new ECU`s, fuel system etc.

I`m sure BMW have made the new V8 an absolute cracker of an engine and am certain that it`ll be head and shoulders above the turbo.

Car and Driver has posted official photos and information:

http://www.caranddriver.com/carnews/...-and-info.html

"The 335i (the C goes away on this coupe as it did on the 650i for the 2006 model year) will have a 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six with piezoelectric direct injection. It’s the first gasoline turbocharged BMW in decades. BMW claims the 335i coupe will accelerate from 0 to 60 in 5.3 seconds — scarcely more than the outgoing E46 M3. Our acceleration times in BMWs typically are even faster than the company’s claimed times, so an instrumented test time of five seconds flat isn’t out of the question."

Note also, that my earlier-mentioned fears of the turbo layout are true:

"The 335i’s symmetrical turbos are relatively small, and each feeds three cylinders."

A new loaded 2006 Honda Accord prices out to be $32-33k!!!! WTFFFFFF?????

Are they nuts??? 5 years ago I could get an Accord loaded for $25k! What's going on with car prices today????

For $30k something, I went with my 2006 C230 SS instead!

you are correct... this is probably the greatest limitation to this engine. A tuner will have to find a way to place 1 larger Turbo sooner or later.

i hear you..

C230 looks nicer, RWD, manual transmission, German...

but the 3L Honda engine is sweet! You also can get a 6sp with the sedan and coupe. So it will a toss up.

I prefer to have RWD and less power to FWD and lots of power.

I used to own a Acura CL-S and it had power. But the differential should be in the rear not underneath the engine.

Speaking of Turbos and engines...

Acura has finally introduced a 2.4 Turbo engine (240/260tq)... not bad for a 4 cyl. Now if they can find a way to Turbo their 3.2L and bring AWD to their Acura TL it would give BMW a real run for price, performance and potential.

For those who have not driver a 3.2 Honda engine, they are one sweet engine despite being SOHC.
