Thanks for posting that link Marktini, this is the best internet copy of the film I've seen. This is the legendary cult 1976 film C' Était Un Rendezvous (Rendezvous) by Claude Lelouch. It was filmed using a gyro-stabiized camera mounted to a Ferrari 275 GTB. According to Wikipedia, the opening screen states "le film que vous allez voir a été réalisé sans aucun trucage ni accéléré" ("the film you are about to see was produced without photographic tricks nor changes in camera speed"). No cgi back in '76.

Lot's of discussions about this film available thru Google.

Thanks for posting that. Reminds me how crazy the Parisienne drivers really are. I drove in Paris last summer and that was an eye opening experience. I survived, but not without being clipped twice by two different motorcyclists in one day...

Yeeeeaah. Let's not talk about the drivers in Paris. Makes me want to get out and road rage. If there were licenses for concealed weapons there would be at least 100 shootings a day over there.

That's weird...when I was there traffic was so bad that walking was actually faster than being in a car. The streets were never that empty not even late at night or in the early morning.

The film was made around daybreak which explains the lack of people and traffic, did you notice the refuse trucks in a couple of shots? This was made very early in the morning, which is alo why it's so dark. In any case it's a film that could probably never be matched with today's traffic restraints.

Don't know the expiration of google video URLs yet...
But here is the direct link to an .avi file, for those who don't enjoy GVP...

reminded me of my trip to paris 4 years ago. we we're running late to the airport, flagged down a cab and paid the equivalent of $25.00 upfront. the cab driver gave me a thrilling drive to the airport. the driver was criss-crossing traffic and driving on the shoulder... oh and i made my flight. damn french drivers.
