I ordered my car with COMAND and it should be here next week. Well, the point is that today I was checking the updated price for everything at the MBUSA.com and I figured out that there is not a Navigation CD collection at the Accessories menu...
is this a evidence that the 2003 COMAND has just one CD?, thus DVD based...

COMAND will stay CD based until later in the 2003 model year I am told. At that point Mercedes is planning on switching to the new DVD based units.

Weird they would do this in the middle of a model year run, however, anything is possible.

How did you get this information?
I would rather have the DVD based COMAND than the CD based one. Thanks!

My dealership told me that the new DVD Comand will only be available on the 2003 S and CL cars, and it will be available in 2004 for all of the other classes.

FYI - According to MB-USA, the ML-500 will also get a DVD-based MCS system (the ML's version of COMAND).

According to my dealer, DVD COMMAND will be available in E, S, and CL cars -- but not until January at the earliest.

The S and CL cars will ship this year with COMMAND, and beginning in Jan 03 will ship with the DVD enhanced unit.

The E class cannot be ordered with the DVD COMMAND yet -- which will be called COMMAND II.

Other models -- C, CLK, SLK, SL, ML will not get COMMAND II until the 04 model year.
