Window tint
Hi all,
I want to install tint on my C32, but from the factory it has a blue-ish tint already. It appears to be the color of the glass, and not a film. Does anyone know for sure? Also, those of you with tint on W203 cars, what % tint have you found that you prefer?
Thanks - and yes, I did search/RTFM.

a quarter mile at a time
the glass is Solextra made by PPG - http://corporateportal.ppg.com/na/oe...s/Solextra.htm
people do tint the glass and the only problem is that moleskin needs to be used to prevent damage to the tint

I have 20% tint, non metallic, can't think of the brand off hand. You should get non metallic if you have Nav.., and the radio since the antenna is in the back window.
I also got the felt/moleskin? added to my door so that the tint wouldn't scratch. The tolerances are so close I really recommend this.
Take a look at my pics in the sticky pic thread and you will see how my tint looks. It's allegedly illegal to tint darker than 35% here in Cali, but I have never had a problem on any of my cars with 20%.. knock on wood!!

35 all around, non-metallic, and yeah the felt thing in the doors - if your guy doesn't recommend those, change guys. Anyone have a way to deal with the little raised dots on the inside. My tinter just avoided them, but I would like a way to have the tint really encompass the whole back window - there is a little clear area where the dots are. I know why they did it, the tint won't adhere around those dots. Can I sand them down, or file them or something? Those dots are my only problem with tinting.

I have 5% or limo all the way around. I also live in Cali and have had 15 plus tickets, but it is all worth it to keep my privacy and the sun out of my eyes. I need to do the felt thing because my front windows only last about 3 months before they become scratched.

50% grade all 4 windows. My tint installer actually used the reader (hand held device) and it was actually 42%. 35% in the rear (large back window) to make a more balanced look. All 4 windows with molskins(synthetic strips). Highly recommended! I went with a light grade to retain the blue tint, but yet have the windows a tad shade darker. My black interior also creates a darker effect. At the same time, I wanted a classy look and not too much contrast with my silver car. If you have NAV, it has been recommended to go with non-metallic tint.

Basically, it's a padding material that sits between your tint film and the edge of the window. It prevents the sharp edge of the window from scratching up your tint.

The installer should have done that for you. If not, you should go back and ask them do it for you. If you really want to DIY, you can get moleskin from a fabric store

Melman, no worries man. The wheels are from a group buy, no mods required, absolutely perfect. They really set the car off, especially with the agressive GSD3s.

jpog. Do you know what company they came from and the size of the wheels/tires? I'm really interested in getting a set. If you want to sell your wheels let me know. Thanks man.
