high idle in park and neutral
Nothing turned up in a search, anyone have any ideas?
When shifting into park or neutral, the idle will jump up 1000rmp or so. Sometimes, it'll slowly come back down to normal, sometimes, it says high. If I put it back into 'drive', the idle returns to normal. Anyone experience this before?

Too many to list
Is it doing this when the engine is cold? or warmed up already? Mine revs at about 1000rpm if when I just start the engine on a cold morning and immediately shifts to Reverse or D. However, after the engine has warmed up, the rpm revs much lower.

No, I know what you're talking about, this is a different phenomenon. This happens when my engine is warm. For example, I'll drive home from work, and after parking, I put the car in park. As a result, the RPM's jump up 1000rpm, and stay there, idling high. If I were to put the car back in gear, say in reverse or in drive, the idle goes back to normal.

I have the same problem, but the dealer has never figured it out. I also get the car crapping out (with ESP off - engine power shuts down) at around 6000rpm in first gear, full throttle. I was guessing that maybe there was a sensor problem, air leak or something, but obviously, just like always, the dealer never finds anything wrong with the car. I don't think I have had a perfectly performing car since day 1 (at least to my expectations).
I hate when the dealer just keeps claiming that no codes came up and they cant replicate. I have three or four recurring issues that they never seem to be able to fix.

in park and in neutral the engine isnt connected to the torque converter anymore... so it has zero load. This is why the idle increases out of gear.
try stopping the car on a very flat road. Put it into drive and let the car roll forward by itself. Theoretically it should stop gaining speed when it gets close to 1000rpm..
