sdsilverm3, thanks for the help! It will be interesting to see your pictures. It does look like the exhaust has moved quite a bit since yesterday night when I took the pictures.

For those wondering, my accident was on Friday.

On Saturday, I drive 250 miles round trip from SD to LA and afterwards, I took the pictures of the exhaust hangers shown above.

Today, I autocrossed in the morning and pushed the car as I normally would... And, afterwards when I went over to compare against sdsilverm3 C55, my exhaust hanger position seems to have changed. The mid section hanger appear almost to match his C55.

So, now, I will try to put the car up on ramps and get underneath to double check for damage but at least the position of the midsection looks ok now. Weird that it popped back into place...

Here is a picture of the exhaust hanger now after it seems to have adjusted and rebounded back today. Anyone know what has to move in front of the mid section? i.e. engine mounts?

John, here are the pics. Description above each one. Looks like it may have shifted by about an inch.

The way the tips should look.

The way they sit on John's car.

Notice the gap between the control arm on my car versus John's car. Looks like the muffler section piping is forward just a bit.

Mine.

jywang: are you gonna change both side exhausts or only one?

Also amgmark, which side are you interested? If it's not the driver side then I will be interested on that one. I am in SD as well.

Thanks

Depends on the adjuster tomorrow. I'm fighting to get both and possibly the midsection as well. I can't see why it would be denied...

I would like the entire exhaust, both mufflers.. especially the drivers side. I know of another member selling the passenger side, is that why you want the drivers side??

jywang.. just let me know when you are ready. I am very very interested and have a muffler shop in mind!!

It does look like I'll have both available for you. The Geico quote today included the replacement of both exhaust. I was so busy at work today I forgot to call Kleemann. Doh! I'll be in touch again soon. Thanks everyone.

BTW, kicked butt again at autox:

I'm going to file a police report on Monday and get Geico's quote.
I didn't read all the posts so I'll apologize in advance if this is redundant but why didn't you call the police at the time of the accident? I would file a police report ASAP

A few years ago, some *** clipped my rear bumper while switching lanes while weaving in and out of traffic. He was driving a POS 80's oldsmobile. We pulled over and exchanged info but I insisted on waiting for the cops. He became irrate and accused me of being one of those insurance scammers . He said he had to go because his wife was waiting for him and I told him that I would file a hit and run if he left. When the cops came, I filed a report and he was ticketed. His insurance company told mine that although his certificate was valid, he wasn't insured at the time of the accident.

Latest Update:

Car has been in shop for 1 week now and although the original install of bumper and exhaust have been completed, it looks like it will be in the shop a while longer because the exhaust tips are not protruding from the bumper as they should be.

So, the body shop is adjusting the estimate and including the pipes up to the manifold.

Total original estimate: ~$3,500.
New estimate: $7,800.

My advice to anyone following a C55 or any AMG too closely, don't rear end it or you are looking at a huge bill.

BTW, there will be some exhaust pipes for sale after this to help cover my deductible and car rental...
