19" for C55 need advice

Guess I am going for 19" soon. I do not intend to change the stock suspension settings.
Questions:-

1. Any one used 19" F235 8.5 and R265 9.5 ? Do they look good without lowering the C55 body further as I do not want to changing the stock suspension system.

2. Any rubbing issues without lowering the C55 body further as I do not want to changing the stock suspension system.

3. Any performance degradation or significant ride quality affected

tks

ride quality improved when i got my 19s.
as far as i know it wont rub, i think u can even run a 10 in the rear with the right offset.
it would look better if it was lowered. drop it 1.2in w/ some springs

Damn ! The tire shop guy told me the same , he said I can run 20" 10 rear without rubbing ! And , BTW, yours is CLK , would CLK has better room and use diffferent offsets than the C55.

As you say changing springs, I really want to know who has done that and what the effects will be, I am a bit a paranoid about changing any parts in the C55 suspension system. I might get a good drop but really does not want to affect the feel and safety of the car.
Thanks for advice.

i dont know the offsets, i had my wheels custom made for my cae (hre).
but i know with the right offset u can run a 10. w/ a 265 tire
im running a 275/30 and i needed to grind a little bit at both sides of the fender, where it meets the rear bumper.

i havent changed my spring on this car but have done on my e36 '99 m3.
the effects are the same no matter the car.

1. lower ride height-looks, performance, lower center of gravity=safer to drive and easier to control. less pitch, no more roll into oversteer attitude. the car feels more planted.
2. ride height- harder to go up driveways(i lowered my m3 2.3in fr and 1.8in r w/ H&R race springs) u wont have this problem most of the time, might rub a little w/ 4 people in the car(nothing serious), ride is a little harsher.

get some H&Rs or eibachs, whatever u do dont cut any coils or heat the springs, make sure a professional does the install. i did my m3 springs w/ some guidance from a mechanic, i enjoy working on cars.

good luck

pm me if u have any other q's

As long as the offset is right, it is possible to have 20" on a class same as the clk because both cars are like the same base. I know that European Version w203 suspension are lower than North America due to a few regulations. I am sure it will be okay, but it will not be perfect. I still think u should change your springs to Brabus and keep the AMG shocks. I drove car with this combo and it is great because the stock AMG shocks is very stiff already.

Nico, This is very helpful and something very important to me , is what the overall effect will be if I only change the springs? Is this just for a better drop or because it also improves ride quality? The stock AMG shocks are VERY STIFF already. The current drop is just right for 18", I would guess a further drop will make the car look much nicer with 19".
Do you have more user experience to share that only springs were replaced?
tks
