Ran with a 911 Carrera

So it is my 2nd day of ownership in my '03 C32 and I am learning that this thing is addcting to drive fast. I'm on a divided express lane that has stop lights every mile or so and a 50 MPH limit. First light I find a new 911 with aftermarket HRE wheels that looks sweet in front of me. Next to him is a guy in a piece of crap Cavalier that is reving his engine and starring the 911 down!!! Well the 911 abliges with a few revs. Now I know that the 911 is faster than the c32, but something took over. I switched off the traction control and wait for the light to turn. The 911 launches hard and I punch it as well. Perfect amount of wheelspin and I'm right on his bumper hoping he doesn't let off!! I was amazed that I hung with him till he shifted into 2nd gear. Guessing around 50 MPH since I was to focused on not slamming into him. He pulled about 3-4 lengths on me till 80 when we shut it down. So at the next light I give him the thumbs up and he rolls down the window and says" Is that an AMG? Those things are pretty fast, they did a nice job on them". By the way, the Cavalier was about 1/4 mile behind us at this point....

This thing is going to cost me a fortune in gas, tires and tickets but the smiles per mile will be well worth it.

Nix the spare tire and the resonator and swap your 63lb boat-anchor battery for the Optima, and you probably would've stayed with him. Less than $200.00 worth of mods.

Thanks for the quick tips. My first mod will be to change the 3 point star to a flush mount AMG badge. I think the extra drag is slowing me down...HAHAHA

Does removing the resonator make much of a difference in sound? Came from a 2000 Maxima and the sound of the c32 is perfect mix of quite when taking it easy and loud when you push the pedal. I may get used to it after a while and want it louder anyway.

Minimal sound change IMO. Maybe a little throatier under hard acceleration. Few more HP and 10lbs less. $50.

were you on 41? if so, just be careful speeding too much as there's alot of police. BTW, was it the 911 S or base Carerra?

i use 41 sometimes but mostly i'm on 94 north. maybe i'll see you around sometimes. i have black C55 w/ black center wheels and smoked tail lights.

Rumor has it I was on Palatine Road by Milwaukee Ave. I do work by 41, so I will keep my eyes out for a blacked out c55. The Porsche was a Carrera S unless he just put the badge on the back of a base model. Pretty quick once he shifted to 2nd...

make sure you add the green filter and remove the resonator...

its about 5 to 7 horses to the wheels and torque as well..

if you really want to stay with him neck to neck.. call up Evosport or renntech, they can prescribe the cure. Stage 1 (pulley and chip)
