NOt a newb, but have a newb-ish question

I have read a ton of posts on suspension, wheels, etc.

I love my 02 C32, but it really seems the steering boost return to center (or whatever it's formally called) is just plain the heart of the problem for me.

The car's completely stock, and I know the tires, the shocks, the springs etc. can all be improved. My question is, when I am taking a gentle sweeper, the steering boost is what really gets to me. It's like I am fighting it all the time. When I drive a loaner '06, it just seems to track true and not wrestle me too much when I turn. My '02 feels, well, bizarre, like it wants to return to center waaay too much.

Is this just the boost, or is this also a combination of all the stuff mentioned above (shocks, springs, etc.). I think it's all of the above, but I wanted to hear from some of you out there who can relate and know the answer.

Thanks for your time and responses, unless they say "do a search." Because I have...perhaps I just haven't used the right terms

Not sure if this will help at all... but these cars have speed sensitive steering. Just like the power windows, seats, and even the ECU, resynchronizing the steering wheel every now and then will not hurt.

Turn on your car and move the steering wheel from lock to lock. That should help reset the speed sensitivity, but I don't know if it will solve your particular dilemma.

It's about 66K, but I noticed it when I bought it at 50K. I think it is just the character of the C32. My C36 had a different steering feel off-center.

It seems that in a sweeper I am always fighting to find the sweet spot as the wheel seems to not want to stay where it is, and I have to constantly make small corrections to hold a line. This must be the combination of everything (tires, suspension, chassis, etc.). Some cars seem to like to be turned, this car in stock form just doesn't feel too happy. It gets the job done, but not with applomb.

I was just wondering if steering boost could be part of the culprit.

Thanks for your responses.

C32
The C32 has heavier steering than the loaner cars I get from my dealer (C230). I don't mind the heavy steering, though. It reminds me of sports cars I've owned that didn't have Power Steering. I prefer to feel what the car is doing on the road as opposed to being able to turn the wheel with 1 finger.

The one complaint I have about the steering is the ratio. It takes far too many turns lock-to-lock. I wish it were a bit quicker.

I love heavy steering too. No, this feels like it is overboosted, and imprecise. The loaners (C230 etc seem to have improved this somewhat).
