Smog Pump Replacement Info Needed

Hey guys,

I need to replace the "secondary air injection pump" on my 02, i was wondering if anyone has a part number and where I might be able to order one of these. I found the fuse part number by searching on here, but can't find the pump#. Also, to those who have replaced, I'm guessing this is a pretty easy unbolt and bolt up installation? By the way, I believe since I am in Texas this isn't covered under the 8/80k smog warranty, as I think that only applies to California (and maybe Nevada, its in the warranty guide).

Thanks!

I'm in the same boat as you, I will be changing mine on my own sometime this week. it should be an easy unbolt old and bolt the new part. I think the left air splitter might have to be removed because it’s on the way. You could either buy it from an MB parts store or online, not a big price difference.

Part number for the secondary air injection pump:
000-140-42-85 air pump
0580000010 ** you can use this one as well. the pump has two part numbers to look it up with

It's recommended to change the relay as well when you replace the pump. My relay was supposedly changed on the latest MB recall but my pump was already dead. I think I will replace the relay anyways!
002-542-26-19 relay
203-545-16-01 control unit

Might want to read up on Federal Emission warranty. Some things are covered up to 80k miles but your state has to have an emissions inspection and the problem has to one that the state would require you to fix.
