Strange Stalling @ top of 3rd Gear +

Done some research and have not found anything definitive yet, but I am having a strange issue if I step on the throttle at around 80MPH, it will downshift, start pulling hard, then BAM! like a jerk and nada, no boost, i coast from 87 to 103ish like I was a 3.2L N/A, RPM's are still revving high, but hardly any acceleration.

If I am slightly on the accelerator through the top of 3rd gear, everything is fine, once I get past 103ish, if I step on it, full boost, accelerates perfect past 130+

It seems only to happen under heavy acceleration at the top of 3rd.

Did you take your car to the secondary air injection recall service?? if you did..... then you may be another victim to the notorious power loss experienced by myself and few other members after having this recall service done.
My conclusion for now is that the ECU was reprogrammed to somehow affect the way the intercooler functions or they may have changed it's life tolerance or something. so maybe if you're intercooler is very close to expire, the recall service they performed just made it expire sooner?!?! I'm getting my Intercooler pump replaced next week, I hope my car becomes a bullet again. otherwise I will not be too happy

Make sure to address the issue to your service advisor and report it to MB Headquarters.

Do a search on intercooler pump failure. This sounds like a typical case.

Why would an intercooler pump failure behave like this (unless it is triggering some electronic reaction via the computer)?

I would have expected the intercooler failure to be a much more subtle and gradual loss of power, not a complete shut-down (unless, as noted, the engine is shutting down the supercharger clutch as well). I can't imaging that loss of the intercooler would create an instant 100HP drop. More importantly, why would it shut down, then come back to life?

Why aren't any error codes created?
