cracked my windshield

Damn, I was driving down ocean parkway today (on long island) and all of a sudden my windshield cracked, i think a very small pebble could have hit it. Why do mercedes windshields crack so easy, in my dads cl65 he cracked the windshield twice already. in mercedes cars it seems like even if you look at the windshield the wrong way the damn thing cracks. any way how much does it cost for a new one from a dealership? i heard if you dont use there glass that your rain scensors wont work or something

its about $700 going through the dealership. the dealership i went to subcontracted that work out to another shop. calling them directy only cost $500. just remember to use OEM factory glass with any shop you choose. then rain sensor won't be a problem.

yes mercedes factory glass is weak as hell. i cracked my windshield within the first year of driving the c55, whereas my old bmw windshield never even had a scratch after 10 years. i'm convinced the glass is weak and the angle on the windshield makes more things hit it...or i'm just driving faster so those poor flying creatures can't avoid me

Interesting.. about to tip 94k miles and my windshield is almost perfect and I don't think it was ever replaced.

My BMW windshield on the other hand was the exact opposite.. I had 4 major cracks and the windshield was totally pitted after 90k miles. It was so bad..

its all about luck it depends on how hard your windshield gets hit.
