HELP>>>IC pump or Magnetic clutch??

Hey everyone. I am having the intermittent power loss with my c32. I see its a common problem. Got it checked out at the MB dealership and code stated as follows: Y2/1 (Supercharger magnetic clutch), Electical fault (P0235).

The Fault occured 10 times.

My question: The symptoms that u get from a bad IC pump, are they the same symptoms as a bad magnetic clutch??? I also get that chirp noise, which i never used to get, I see from other posts that this is normal but it comes from the clutch right?

I am sure all have been discussed before but would like to hear from experience so I get a proper diagnostic. I am still under an extended warranty... If they change the clutch should I get them to change the pump too.

PS I have not done the recall yet.. Car was running great..But these symptoms all started from a visit to a different MB dealership... what a coincidence hummmmmmmmmm

if you are getting the fault code for the supercharger clutch, then that is what is wrong....there are no fault codes for the intercooler going bad, as the ECU just shuts down the supercharger because the air coming into the engine is too hot...this prevents detonation or damage to the engine...

Thanks Fast..

One more thing would the symptoms be the same. I know when I first got the car.. the throttle was amazzzzzzzingly responsive. A small touch and she would fly. I hear the supercharger about 70% of the time. When I shut the car off I hear it as well for a bit which is good.

Sorry for the ingnornace.. so i guess the clutch would have an effect on the throttle with what i am experiencing??

I guess what I am ultimately asking is .. what are the symptoms of a bad supercharger clutch...

i don't loose the kompressor, but throttle response is very weak. I need to dig into the throttle for the car to perform.

Only during the morning hours is this car really amazing. As soon as it heats up and ambient temperature is high, I need to be agressive with the throttle.

i'm going to switch the IC pump next week and put my resonator back and see if that helps.

i think it is just the heat...mine was exactly like you are describing stock and now...the hotter it gets, the more throttle i have to give it off the line, it is probably just an effect of heat soak...
