Question Sirius Satellite Radio

I have a 2005 C55 with Sirius Satellite radio and have found reception in the Chicagoland area to be difficult to obtain upon start up of the vehicle. I have to turn the radio off before turning the car off because it will not get reception the next time I turn the vehicle back on.

If I forget to turn the radio off the previous time and can not get reception I have turn the radio off, stop the car, put into park, turn off the car, pull the key from the ignition and restart the car before satellite reception returns.

Has anyone experienced this before and what was the fix? Is this a software issue or bad part(s)?

Thank you in advance for your input.

I have observed the same issue with other MBZ factory installations. It seems to be a collision on the MOST ring when the remote devices are being polled. The receiver cannot seem to lock if he anenna is moved prior to the audio buffer being full. That takes about ten seconds after start. It can take longer when the signal is not good. Sirius satellites (3) are always moving, so you can get a lock quickly at one time, and not at all another time in the same location, like your driveway.

Delphi makes the receiver, Agere makes the chipset, Sirius sells the service, and DaimlerChrysler sells the equipment. While earning tons of cash, each points a finger at the other. They all ignore questions from consumers.

I have found that changing to FM and then back to SAT will start the music. I notice when doing that, the Delphi receiver receives a "wake-up call" on the MOST ring.

Sirius Satellite Radio

I have not had it looked at by MB. I will request that they do on my up coming visit for routine maintanence.

I have not been able to get the satellite radio to work by switching between FM and satellite.

Thanks for your reply to my question.
