Anybody uses K&N Stock replacment filters for C55.

Anybody uses K&N Stock replacment filters for C55.
After few research aftermarket parts four C55, I came to conclusion that K&N filters would be the cheapest is way to gain few more hp. My question is, is it ok to use that filter without reprogramming the ECU? I'm not familiar upgrading MB so help me out here guys.
I thought about getting renntech kit (airbox + ecu) but i found that little pricy for little hp gain.

If you are going to replace filters use Green filters....

ive used k&n in all kinds of cars since i got my license (98) not a single problem.
i currently have 2 in my clk55 and my brother has 1 in his e46 m3.
as for buying the aibox, dont do it, u can just modify ur stock airbox by grinding down all the ribs inside it, it basically the same thing
