Really, I love the C32, with the kids, two under two, it is not great, but not bad either. I left the clk for the c once the second kid came. it is the third car for the kids, but once a month I have one of them in there. Still, it is cumfy. I would keep the c55 and buy a Lexus LX470 or F150 four door. Those are the others I have and I love the combo.

btw...6'2, 220
How 'bout a 03-06 twin turbo V12 S600. Can be had in the 50K or even high 40K range now. Little Renntech mod, and you have a super lux sedan that just happens to run an 11 second 1/4 mile.

.02,
Wow, that seems like a great price. Any options on it? Which dealer?

I saw a black one the other day. . . really nice looking. . . sort of like a meaner X5.

I have to second the vote for the Jeep SRT-8. A guy who goes to church with me drives a maroon-colored one, and it's a thing of beauty. Sounds great too!

E55
550i (m5 is still too expensive)
GS460h or GS460 (4.6 380hp)

If you need more space.. E55 Touring, the perfect family car.

Go S. The comfort of being able to extend and stretch your legs in the rear.

That's the only thing I can brag about around here. lol

I going to upgrade my C32 for an E63 net year or the year after. With 1 toddler and a newborn, the baby seats take up a lot of room, and i would prefer a slightly larger car.

Great suggestions, thank you. Glad to see people finally get the idea of the topic

Has anyone takend a closer look at the CLS ? I am aware of the headroom issues but how is space in front ? I just love the looks of this car, oddly enough I did not think it was that great when I first saw it but it has really grown on me.

I do like the Jeep SRT8,but am not that thrilled with the fit and finish on Jeep (or most domestic made cars).

Now AWD I can understand in Chicago, but trading a Benz for a pimped out Volkswagon??? If it makes you happy.......
Think back, 5 or maybe 10 years, when you were strapped into a car seat by your parents. Now imagine having a little brother and/or sister in a car seat next to you. Now image them in a C32 or C55.

Not gonna happen.

You don't need to be running a taxi service to need a bigger car!

I had an A6 when my kids were in car seats. I could easily fit two and even three in the back. Also, the C class layout puts the B-pillar at my left ear, which interferes with side vision and creates a nasty vortex of wind when that window is open. That's the consequence of a stubby, four-door car. Some want more.

Yep...I've been thinking about getting a bigger car for the last couple of months now. I recently went and test drove an S500 (looking at possibly getting an S55 which dealer didn’t have on hand and especially since the new body styles have dropped the prices on the 2003 + models, as Vomit was suggesting - but didn't even think of the S600, good call Vomit!) just to get the feel of the car and whether I would like it. I LOVED it! It didn't feel like a boat but a good solid car! Definitely more room!

I'm 6'2 (not to mention I lost 17 pounds in the last 3 weeks - not so I could fit in my little C55 but felt I could shed some pounds for the summer - amazing what a low calorie diet and exercise does!) and I moved the seat in the S500 as far back as it could go and then I got into the back seat and I still fit okay. And I certainly wouldn't need to have the front seat all the way back so this gives you an idea of the room this thing has! So I'm in the market to upgrade myself but I'm patiently awaiting the deeper discounts to be had with the new models arriving!

The CLS in the front is very confortable but when it comes to the back you feel very claustrophobic at many times. A friend of mine owns a CLS 55', don't get me wrong the car is beautiful and pulls like a beast but the backseats feel like sitting in an audi TT'!
I would really recommend waiting for an E63 or possibly buying an S65 that's what i would buy. But i would surely stick to mercedes

Can't afford a CLS55 here regardless goood or bad.
So I will take a close to fully loaded new S350 with AMG kit anytime.
A 388hp S500 eats too much fuel for its weight than C55 and S500 still not faster. I will be driving slowing and play with all the gargets (massage seats, dual rear monitors, surround sound, camera, distronic, night vision, radar parktronic)

Keep in mind... If you goto something larger than the C55 you are dramatically going to suffer handling capabilities. For example, if you get the 4000lb E55 with the longer wheel base etc...it's going to drive like a boat and never be as nimble or fun to drive as your C55. Yes, the straight line acceleration will be better but that is it! Handling will go down the tubes and in my mind that is a deal breaker on these big sedans that weigh too much.

I love being able to toss my C55 around all over the place and have it handle like a gem. You will never have that same feeling in an M5, E55, CLS55, RS6, etc, etc, etc...

Good Luck!

So nobody has even suggested the Chrysler 300 SRT. Obviously, it will not have the same image as a Benz; but the parts that should be Benz are Benz, and the parts that should be American (Hemi) are American. And the price is around $40,000.

I'd probably move to Ford Five Hundred.. bc the rear end looks similar to C55, only slightly bigger

Considering the 300 SRT the same as every grandma's 300 is like equating a C32/C55 to every C-class out there. No doubt, there are a LOT of plain jane, sluggish C-class sedans out there, and they look a LOT like a C32 /C55 to the common man.

300 SRT has 425 HP. Hard to argue with that!

I get your point.. The are still fugly as hell IMO.. What I should have said was that there are tons of that body style here in town.

Personally I would rather have a Caddy CTS-V.. obviously it's all about preferences and $$$. The 300 SRT is a good value for performance though..

It would be hard to say which is fuglier, the CTS or the 300. But on paper, they make a lot of expensive cars look kind of stupid.

Have you seen the Dodge Charger? That thing is a joke. I cannot believe that Chrysler could not make ONE understated, conservative looking car employing the amazing hardware in that platform.

I thought the Magnum (wagon) was OK when it came out, but since the 300 and Charger came out, the Magnum is starting to look pretty good! Next is the Challenger. It's look better but weigh 5,000 lbs.

Personally, I like a car that can handle, and as quick as these mooses are, they are HEAVY.
