OK I searched first but nothing on front plate removal like this

I tried removing my front plate mounting bracket but it was attached to some wires or rubber tubes. I was going to cut them but they sure looked important so I didn't and reinstalled that front plate attachment. I go and look at the rear bumper and the same kind of deal is under the rear bumper. Some sort of rubber wires going into a square little black box. Anyone know what these are. I'm sure glad I didn't yank the front plate any harder.

Is the car used or new? Pics would help. I would think the rubber is just to protect the bumper and the box is just a collector for crossing the cable/wires that hold the thing on - sounds like a nice way to attach the plates securely without harming the car, or...

...could be a remotely located radar/laser detector?...sometimes I think they put those on the plates since that's where cops aim the laser detector beam?...

You know what you could be right as this is a used C55 and it has a passport radar detector installed in it. It might be the detectors as it's mounted under the rear bumper and the front license plate. Ok, thanks now that explains it. And to think I was going to cut that right off the front plate. Saved my *** this time thankfully I had some patience.

I was just gonna say you must have a radar detector put in by previous owner.

find a shop that can rewire it behind the bumper or move it to lower grille, so you can remove the front plate.

have fun

Ok here are the pics of the front and rear sensors for the passport escort radar detector that was installed by the previous owner.

Ok the radar/laser detector mounted here with volume control mounted side center counsel.

Here's the model I would guess. To bad car isn't supercharged like the detector, ha ha.

Front mounted sensors just underneath the plate holder

Rear is mounted under the rear bumper.

Cable seem to come out from under the trunk for the sensor, hope nothing catches on it.

Sweet pics, thanks - yeah, you got yourself a nice setup there. I wouldn't worry about that cable sticking down from the trunk unless you're in a place where you would get a lot of snow and would also drive it in the snow.

I'm in Denver so there will be snow but the car is staying put in the garage. I still need to get a beater car for myself now when the snow hits. Wife will be driving the Suburban when that time comes. Thanks Bif.
