humm...stupid steering wheel!

I went out this morning, and noticed my steering wheel was not moving in the up down postition, it will however move in a back/forth direction. Also something is goofy with my memory setting. It wont program any new seat postitions. What is the major malfunction here???

Regards.

it's likely to be the gearing in the system is broken

That happened to my steering wheel as well. I don't remember if the memory functions didn't work, I don't use them very much. I drove around with the wheel all the way up for about 2000 miles and then had it fixed under warranty when I got my service a.

so what would be involved in fixing this myself? I am outside my warrenty by 5k miles.
I think your right about it being the gearing though, cause I still hear the motor turning, so its not catching the wheel spline.

Regards.
