I just had the front left turn indicator bulb go out. I am out of warranty and was just quoted $100 to repair. I was informed that they could not replace just bulb but the wired socket also. Had to be an in shop job. Anybody know if this is true. Mercedes dealer in Fort Myers Fl.

Yes there is a known defect with the turn signal sockets where the contacts burn out. It requires the socket to be replaced.

If you are fairly good with wiring troubleshooting you can fix this problem for free. Just drill a small hole in the back of the socket and feed a wire through it. Solder the one side to the socket before the bad contact and either put the other side to a ground lug if that is the defective contact or splice it to the turn signal wire if that was the problem side.

My c32 is covered by starmark. In the covered items it states that all wire harnesses and connections are covered under this policy. Do you think that this would cover the wire harness and socket that goes to the turn indicator.
